by Rainier on Dec. 22, 2025 @ 12:19 p.m. PST

Vince Zampella, former CEO of Call of Duty's Infinity Ward and CEO/co-founder of Respawn Entertainment known for Titanfall and Apex Legends, has tragically passed away after getting into a car crash.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Vince Zampella reportedly was involved in single-car crash last Sunday in Los Angeles/San Gabriel Mountains.

While remaining head of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella was recently also in charge of Ripple Effect Studios (previously known as DICE LA) where he led the Battlefield franchise.

The single-car crash was reported at about 12:45 p.m. on the scenic road north of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Mountains. The southbound car veered off the road, hit a concrete barrier and a passenger was ejected, the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver was trapped in the ensuing car fire, the CHP said. The driver died at the scene and the passenger died at a hospital, authorities told NBC4 Investigates.

Details about why the car crashed off the road were not immediately available.

Infinity Ward issued the following statement
