Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games and takes full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles
"Fist Meets Fate” in the dramatic new storyline in Tekken 8.
The Tekken series holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running video game storyline, with Tekken 8 continuing the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. This latest saga begins where the previous title left off, with a world mired deep in the devastating war between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. After suffering what seems to be a defeat from Kazuya, Jin faces his own fate. His mother, Jun Kazama, appears after her absence from the Tekken franchise to try and turn the tide in this blood feud.
Tekken 8 will feature exciting new gameplay focused on “Aggressive” tactics. Retaining Tekken’s unique fighting game identity, the game will provide both players and spectators with the series’ most thrilling experience yet with visceral screen-jarring attacks and environments that are both dynamic and destructible.
Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed the Season 2 roadmap for Tekken 8, announcing that Anna Williams is coming to the game as the first of four new planned DLC characters, including an all-new original character.
The "Scarlet Lightning,” who made her debut in the first Tekken, will join the game’s roster with a 72-hour early access for Season 2 Character & Stage Pass and Season 2 Character Pass holders beginning March 31, 2025, and officially release on April 3, 2025. The Season 2 roadmap was revealed on the latest Tekken Talk Live, where the team also announced upcoming rank match adjustments and details for Tekken World Tour 2025 launching at EVO Japan this coming May.
Anna Williams joins the fight as the first DLC character of the new season, expanding the game's roster to 37 fighters. Known as the "Scarlet Lightning” for her breathtaking beauty and skills as a former assassin, Anna continues her journey for revenge against her sister Nina Williams in Tekken 8.
The addition to the roster comes hot on the heels of the first licensed character added to the game, with Clive Rosfield from the Final Fantasy series added this past December. Ben Starr, the popular voice actor behind Clive, joins the Tekken 8 team for a special livestream on February 26.
Bandai Namco also unveiled the new season roadmap, confirming the release of three additional DLC characters after Anna along with two new stages, with planned drops in Summer, Fall and Winter 2025.
In Tekken 8, all characters’ models have been completely remade from the ground up, making the most of the latest generation of hardware and providing a better experience for players.
Tekken 8 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
