'Killing Floor III' Needs More Development/Polishing Time, Delayed Until Somewhere Later In 2025

by Rainier on March 7, 2025 @ 9:50 a.m. PST

Killing Floor III invites players to Join the fight against hordes of Bioengineered monstrosities.

Since the release of the original Killing Floor in 2009, and the sequel Killing Floor 2 in 2016, over 28 million players around the globe have joined the battle for survival against hordes of horrific Zeds across PC and consoles. Over that time, Tripwire has engaged and grown the massive Killing Floor community through the steady release of free and premium post-launch content, with industry-leading games-as-a-service (GaaS) support.

Now, harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5, Tripwire will build upon the legacy of the series, realizing its gruesome graphical vision and embracing its dark dystopian tone to deliver the next terrifying evolution in action/horror with Killing Floor 3.

The year is 2091, 70 years after the events in Killing Floor 2, and megacorp Horzine has produced the ultimate army: an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds. Now, the only thing standing between these infernal creations and the future of humanity is the rebel rogue group known as Nightfall. This intense first-person shooter puts players in the role of a Nightfall specialist, joining forces with up to five teammates as they battle through a war-ravaged, dystopian future, surviving unrelenting waves of Zeds, unlocking new skills, and building the ultimate arsenal.

Originally planned to launch worldwide on March 25, 2025, developer/publisher Tripwire Interactive announced that Killing Floor 3 will be delayed until later in 2025.

Tripwire, with support from its parent company The Embracer Group, announced the delay and discussed initial details on what the team is evaluating as priority issues to address. The delay will move the game’s launch to a date to be determined later in 2025.

"Dear Killing Floor Fans,

We’ve made the decision to postpone Killing Floor 3’s launch to an undecided date later in 2025.

After taking the time to gather and discuss feedback from our recent closed beta, we’ve realized that we missed the mark. Our goal isn’t just to make Killing Floor 3 an ambitious step forward for the franchise, but also to maintain the core experience that you’ve come to know and love.

With the full support of our parent company Embracer Group, we’re working together on a timeline to address many of the common issues players had during the beta, including performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel. While it’s too early to say which fixes will be implemented by launch, we can confirm that an update allowing you to independently select your perk class and character is planned for post-release.

We look forward to another opportunity to show you a more polished version of Killing Floor 3, and when we’re ready to share more details, you will be the first to know. Until then, we thank you for your continued patience and overwhelming support.

Sincerely,
The Tripwire Interactive Development Team"
