Texas, 1980. Walton City has fallen to a zombie outbreak, and escape is the only chance for survival.
Into The Dead: Our Darkest Days is a side-scrolling shelter survival game that tasks players with guiding a group of desperate survivors from refuge to refuge in an attempt to get everyone out of the city alive.
Scavenge for supplies, craft tools and weapons, fight off the dead, and keep moving as the zombie threat closes in. While their experiences will lead survivors to gain new skills, players will also need to manage their physical and psychological needs because in this world, there are no second chances — and death is permanent.
Experience personal stories of tested morality and humanity in a dynamic urban landscape that changes with time. Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days will bring a new level of depth to the Into the Dead experience, challenging both newcomers to the series and seasoned veterans alike to ask: how far will you go to survive?
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is now available through Early Access on Steam at $24.99 and will remain so for at least a year.
“Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days marks an exciting, immersive evolution of the franchise,” said Mario Wynands, CEO of PikPok. “With its Early Access launch, we welcome players to the city of Walton, and look forward to sharing frequent updates and receiving feedback through the EA period.”
“The Early Access version of the game has a significant amount of content and features. This includes multiple characters, threats, weapons, locations, and crafting options. We believe it's a solid foundation for building towards our long-term vision. There are still a lot of features, systems, and content to develop and integrate into the game, as well as balancing and polishing of all features and content, before we arrive at our fully fleshed out intended experience. We plan to make frequent updates as we develop the game, using your valuable feedback.”
Early Access will offer frequent content updates, with the first planned for May 2025.
“Our full vision for Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is ambitious, and while we believe the existing Early Access version of the game is a fun and compelling slice of the intended final game, there are a lot of features, systems, and content still to build. Over the course of Early Access we're planning to build more depth, breadth, and polish across everything from gameplay, to narrative, to art, and audio design. We've put out a roadmap with more details on what's to come in Early Access. Make sure you stay tuned to our ongoing updates as new features and content are added, and submit your feedback on these updates and additions as they happen.”
Key Features:
- PLAN
- Gather a group of ordinary people who have been left shaken by the sudden zombie outbreak that has devastated their city.
- Establish upgradable shelters to house your survivors and protect them from the zombie threat — but remember that no barriers can keep them out forever.
- Keep moving from refuge to refuge to stay one step ahead of the encroaching zombie hordes. As their numbers grow, parts of Walton City will become more difficult to scavenge, or completely uninhabitable.
- Balance the physical and psychological needs of the group, and try to maintain order when fear and paranoia set in.
- ADAPT
- Creep through the remains of Walton City to scavenge precious resources, risking the life of each survivor as they encounter both zombie and human threats. Stealth is key — one loud noise could alert an overwhelming zombie cluster.
- Choose whether to engage in brutal combat or run from a fight. Not everyone is a natural fighter, but desperate people will do anything to survive.
- Convince others to join your group, deceive them out of supplies, or cut them down and claim their resources as your own.
- SURVIVE
- Test your humanity as you make tough decisions on who will live, who will die, and who will be left behind.
- Inhabit the rich and atmospheric cityscape of Walton City, the once-bustling metropolis now an eerie ruin swarming with zombies.
- Craft tools, weapons, and shelter upgrades to better equip your survivors for the struggles ahead, or give them a moment of comfort and familiarity in their dangerous new world.
- Encounter a dynamic urban environment that changes over time, so every playthrough is a new experience.
