'The Rise of the Golden Idol' To Get The Lemurian Phoenix DLC Later This Month, Content Details

by Rainier on May 1, 2025 @ 12:03 p.m. PDT

The detective saga returns in The Rise Of The Golden Idol with 15 new cases to investigate across 1970s America - an era of hedonistic pleasures, peace movements and microprocessors.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is a detective game, which like its predecessor allows players to investigate scenes freely and build their own motives

The Idol Rises… 300 years later

Three centuries following the unspeakable fate of the Cloudsleys in The Case of the Golden Idol, the legend of the eponymous relic has all but faded. Now it is carried only in small whispers, uttered as an obscene myth. Some are determined for this to change.

The Rise of the Golden Idol follows a tenacious relic hunter on a quest to unearth the powerful artifact that - if the legend is true - can reshape the world.

As the observer, you must investigate 15 strange cases of crime, death and depravity. Like before with The Case of the Golden Idol, you are free to investigate however you wish and build your own theory.

You must make sense of a grand mystery that unravels across an age of hallucinogens, fax machines, parapsychology and TV guides.

Enlightenment seekers, convicts, chat show hosts and corporate middle management will all have a role to play in the wider mysteries that unfold. Like always, many of these subjects will have their own motives. Some will be carrying more than agendas.

Playstack and Color Gray Games are announcing that  Golden Idol Investigations: The Lemurian Phoenix, the next major DLC for The Rise of the Golden Idol, will launch on May 13th, 2025, across PC, consoles, and Netflix mobile.

Expanding the saga with five brand-new scenarios, The Lemurian Phoenix is the largest DLC for The Rise of the Golden Idol to date. Players will dive into a world of royal conspiracies, spiritual gurus, and ancient prophecies, where nothing is as it seems.

Step Into a Kingdom on the Brink

In Golden Idol Investigations: The Lemurian Phoenix, ancient prophecies, royal decrees, and divine revelations weave together into a tangled saga of conspiracy and deceit. Amidst the glittering holiday celebrations of Lemuria’s aristocracy, a murder sparks a chain of events stretching back to 1910 and threatens to unravel the kingdom itself.

As faith replaces technology, charismatic gurus draw loyal followers into their orbit. But behind the masks of divinity lie fractured alliances and brutal power struggles, where betrayal is inevitable and only one can rise.

Investigate five new cases across decades of intrigue, from lavish parties to ancient temples and treacherous rituals. Decipher cryptic prophecies and uncover a conspiracy that could change the fate of Lemuria forever.

A Glimpse at the Mysteries Ahead

Earlier this week, players uncovered the chapter titles for The Lemurian Phoenix:

  • Eternity's End
  • Ascension
  • Royal Blood
  • Revelation
  • A Blaze of Glory

Now it’s up to you to solve them all.

To celebrate the launch, The Rise of the Golden Idol will be 15% off on Steam as part of LudoNarraCon from May 1st to May 8th.

The world has changed dramatically - the sins of humanity have not.

Players unfamiliar with the franchise can play the first three scenarios of The Case of the Golden Idol for free in their web browser.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is available for PC (Steam), Mobile, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
