Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games and takes full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles

The Tekken series holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running video game storyline, with Tekken 8 continuing the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. This latest saga begins where the previous title left off, with a world mired deep in the devastating war between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. After suffering what seems to be a defeat from Kazuya, Jin faces his own fate. His mother, Jun Kazama, appears after her absence from the Tekken franchise to try and turn the tide in this blood feud.
Tekken 8 will feature exciting new gameplay focused on “Aggressive” tactics. Retaining Tekken’s unique fighting game identity, the game will provide both players and spectators with the series’ most thrilling experience yet with visceral screen-jarring attacks and environments that are both dynamic and destructible.
As part of the first update Version 2.01, the TEKKEN Ghost Showdown is a new feature within the TEKKEN Fight Lounge that introduces enhancements to Ghost Battles. Players can now engage in real-time battles between their custom-trained Ghosts, adding a new layer of competitive depth and strategy to the game. They also have the ability to delete Ghost data and toggle AI learning on or off.
Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that Tekken 8 has teamed-up with Sony Pictures’ upcoming motion picture Karate Kid: Legends for an in-game global collaboration.
A first-ever film collaboration for Tekken 8, players are invited to “Unleash Your Inner Warrior” through exclusive in-game content that celebrates the spirit and legacy of Karate Kid: Legends. The new content will appear in the game version 2.02 update coming on June 2, 2025.
The initiative marks the first film collaboration for TEKKEN 8. Once the content is live in the game, players can unlock a limited-time Karate Kid: Legends Hoodie that will be available for free in the TEKKEN™ Shop. This wearable item channels the classic determination and grit of the iconic Karate Kid martial arts franchise, giving fighters a bold new way to represent their warrior spirit. In addition, the Urban Square stage in TEKKEN 8 will be updated to feature Karate Kid: Legends movie billboards, and the TEKKEN Fight Lounge will also receive a thematic update, with signage and an in-game trailer to spotlight the upcoming film. Karate Kid: Legends is slated to debut in US/Canadian theatres on May 30, 2025, and will open in international markets starting May 8.
The next major DLC for TEKKEN 8 is part of the Version 2.03 update, slated for release in summer 2025. Teased at EVO Japan, and after his explosive debut in TEKKEN™ 7, Fahkumram, brings back his formidable Muay Thai fighting style as he joins the game’s playable roster. The Summer DLC also features a range of retro-arcade stylized and visually stunning PAC-MAN themed content to celebrate the Bandai Namco icon’s 45th anniversary. The DLC includes the PAC-PIXELS Battle Stage. The stage showcases the iconic PAC-MAN and his ghostly rivals. The DLC will be available for purchase and part of the Season 2 Character & Stage Pass. Additional themed content, including PAC-MAN hit effects, a 45th anniversary T-shirt, the PAC-MAN-themed Tekken Ball, and Plushie Ghost (PAC-MAN) Pack will be released for free via the Round 6 Fight Pass during Version 2.03 later this summer.
In Tekken 8, all characters’ models have been completely remade from the ground up, making the most of the latest generation of hardware and providing a better experience for players.
Tekken 8 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
