'Forestrike' Shows Off Cold Eye School Technique, Gets Updated PC Demo - Trailer

by Rainier on June 2, 2025 @ 3:31 p.m. PDT

Forestrike is a tactical kung-fu game in which you'll be able to see the battle ahead in your mind, perfectly strategizing out how you plan on besting your opponents.

Use your 'foresight' ability to visualize fights before they happen and hone your skills then rumble in reality, where defeat means starting over from scratch.

As a martial artist, named Yu, you embark on a journey across the country to free the Emperor from an evil Admiral’s influence. Adopting techniques from one of five unique Masters, each battle presents a puzzle that must be solved using your mind as well as your fists.

Yu encounters many foes on his path to the capital, and he is always outnumbered, but he has a secret weapon: the Foresight, a meditative technique that allows him to mentally perceive fights over and over until he finds a sequence of movements that allows him to overcome the odds.

Once ready, our hero must fight in reality, where losing means starting everything over, but progress is permanent. Winning doesn't always mean he will emerge from each encounter unscathed, but the further he travels, the stronger he will become.

A chilling technique established by the ruthless Master Nodai, the Cold Eye School is the second of five schools of combat you can learn on your journey. The Cold Eye revolves around two principles: Endure and Retaliate.

Using blocks or their own health as means to absorb attacks, the Cold Eye user can secure more resources to stand their ground before retaliating with no mercy. Master Nodai, a veteran from the military elite, is obsessed with the idea that the Order is weak. He believes that the Order must adapt and take a more violent stance against the Admiral to restore its former glory, but he is also tormented by the desire for revenge against the Imperial court, which rejected him after he was wounded in battle.

The updated Forestrike demo now features The Cold Eye alongside Master Talgun’s evasive Leaf style. This new brutal and resolute school will attempt to teach players that only by embracing pain can one deliver true justice. However, having access to two schools, players can now unlock new combined abilities and skills.

Key Features:

  • Forewarned is Forearmed: The Foresight, a distinctive game mechanic that lets players experiment without consequences before fighting for real - and win or die trying. Forestrike’s roguelike game loop generates unique runs and encounters every time, so adaptation and improvisation are crucial to progress.
  • Visceral Kung Fu Combat: Always outnumbered, learn to dispatch mobs of brutal enemies with poise and efficiency using everything at your disposal. Upgrade and customize your movesets with techniques from your chosen Masters to help you outwit your opponents in fierce, puzzle-like battles.
  • Handcrafted Fantasy: Journey through a visually striking fantasy world inhabited by unique characters, vicious enemies and magical revelations. Intricate pixel art landscapes form an atmospheric backdrop to handcrafted animation and characters.

Forestrike is coming to PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch in 2025.
