'Clockwork Revolution' Shows Off 5 Minutes Of Gritty Gameplay And RPG Systems - Screens & Trailer - Screens & Trailer

Clockwork Revolution is a new time-bending steampunk action/RPG from the creators of Wasteland and Arcanum.

Explore the Victorian-era metropolis of Avalon, where key moments of its history have been secretly altered to bring wealth and power to the elite.  This is a fantastical, first-person action RPG, with dynamic time-bending combat, deep interconnected roleplaying systems, and the ability to create your own unique character from the ground up.

After stumbling across an incredible invention that allows you to travel into the past, you discover the city you call home—the vibrant steam-powered metropolis of Avalon—has been carefully crafted through the alteration of key historical events.

By traveling back in time, your interactions and choices in the past will have a butterfly effect on the deep, narrative-driven world and characters of Avalon, causing them to change and react in unprecedented ways.

Clockwork Revolution takes place in the vibrant Victorian-era metropolis of Avalon, where steam trains fly overhead, wealthy industrialists replace their limbs with ornate clockwork prosthetics, and mechanical servants fulfill their masters’ every whim.

To bring you up to speed, you’ll play as Morgan Vanette, a customizable player-character and member of the Rotten Row Hooligans gang, who discovers that the world they live in has been altered by the enigmatic Lady Ironwood. She’s unnaturally manipulated history through her use of time travel to bring herself immense power and wealth, while keeping the working class under heel. After discovering her method of traveling into the past, you’re thrust into an adventure across time to turn back the clock, and right Ironwood’s wrongs—however you see fit.

Developer inXile entertainment debuted a new trailer, revealing the grittier side of the steampunk city of Avalon, and the mean streets that you (as Morgan Vanette) grew up on with your gang, the Rotten Row Hooligans. In this trailer we set out to show some of the depth of the world, the grittier side of town, as well as some of the RPG systems you’ll use to customize your character, interact with the people and world, and take the fight to Lady Ironwood and her forces.

But this new age of wonders holds a dark secret—it’s been carefully constructed by the ruthless Lady Ironwood. Through use of a time travel device, she’s changed key moments in Avalon’s history, keeping the working class struggling in the slums and factories, while bringing herself immense wealth and power. That’s where you come in…

Discovering Ironwood’s scheme, you’ll use a wondrous device known as the Chronometer to travel back in time, choose how to influence the past, and then return to the present to experience the effects of your decisions. Through unprecedented and complex visual and narrative depth, the choices you make on your trips into the past will change the people, the stories, and the city of Avalon itself in extraordinary and (very often) unexpected ways. In Clockwork Revolution we’re pushing roleplaying reactivity to new heights, infused with the unique texture and personality that you’ve come to expect from our games.

Clockwork Revolution is in development for Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam), and will also be available through Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass Day One.
