Thirty years have passed since the vicious storm that concluded the first chapter of humankind's survival story in Frostpunk, Earth is still overwhelmed by the neverending frost and harsh, icy climate. But the apocalyptic world has moved on. After the age of coal, conquering Frostland for the oil extraction industry is expected to be the new salvation of what’s left of humanity.

The City, settled around the Generator and its life-giving warmth, grew and progressed as the years ticked on. Years of whiteouts have changed the world, giving it a clean slate with which to write a new post-apocalyptic part of its story. Despite the noose of oppression again starting to tighten on a society that is struggling for life-preserving supplies—and increasingly bothered by inner squabbles after recent events—the world is once again facing an era of possibly prolific expansion.

Most notably, however, people changed. And once they feel like they’ve tamed the frost, and the bonding survival instinct has faded, their human nature will come into play, driven by ambition that could spiral The City into the fall.

However, change does not come easily, and not everyone in this new multi-layered society will welcome this new direction.

We’re thrilled to see how much Frostpunk’s modding community has grown since the game’s release. Seeing how your creativity expands and reshapes the world of Frostpunk makes us extremely happy, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed! Now, we’d like to invite you to unleash it in the world of Frostpunk 2 like never before.

Introducing the Frostpunk 2 Modding Contest, held in cooperation with mod.io - featuring 5 categories, a $10,000 grand prize, and the opportunity to leave your mark on the Frostpunk 2 universe. Ready, Stewards of New London?

Prizes & Categories

Our main challenge is rewarded with the $10,000 grand prize for Best Overall Mod - which will represent best in creativity and overall technical polish.

But that’s not all! We’ve decided to give you the chance to shine in specific parts of the game. Want to change something related to politics? Or perhaps something that directly affects the game’s appearance? Don’t worry, we have four additional categories that will be judged individually by our jury, plus space for honorable mentions!

Important: If you win in a specific category, you can still be eligible for the Best Overall Mod!

• Honorable Mentions x3 | 11bit Goodie Packs | For mods that didn’t win but truly impressed us with quality, creativity, or fun

Rules

• Upload your mod to mod.io, and optionally to Steam Workshop
  • (Uploading the mod on mod.io is required so we can contact all winners after the contest ends)
• Include the #fp2modcontest tag so the jury can find it
• Content limit? Only your imagination!
  • (Please be mindful that mods containing harassment, sexual/erotic, or otherwise inappropriate content will not be reviewed)
• Already made your mod in an earlier patch? Worry not! – We’ll consider all submissions equally, and we don’t want to exclude any of your amazing mods created so far. Remember that they still need to be uploaded with a hashtag on mod.io and run with the current version of the game.
• What is the jury looking for?
  • Creativity, playability, and most importantly, fun! After all, you are the strategy genre experts, and we would like to see what you will come up with to make the Frostpunk 2 experience even more interesting. New stories and mechanics? Insane mode? Replace snow with sand? Add dinosaurs? Introduce a swamp with ogres? The Steward would rejoice!
• We would like to thoroughly judge all of your work,  so our Jury Squad will include our development team, mod.io representatives, and experienced modders from our modding community.
• We’ll select 5 winners and 3 honorable mentions, announced within two weeks after the contest ends.
