Limbo is a puzzle platformer in which players control a boy as he traverses side-scrolling landscapes, solves obstacle puzzles, and defeats occasional enemies.
The game is rendered in black and white and the graphics are presented in a 2D side-view silhouette. Enemies throw fireballs, shoot arrows, or try to lure the boy into traps; traps and hazards contain giant boulders, saw blades, electric wires, spikes, and snapping bear traps. When killed, the boy gets flung around environments, impaled on spikes, or sliced into pieces. Black-and-white blood splashes accompany most attacks and death animations.
iam8bit and Playdead have joined forces again to celebrate the 15th anniversary of LIMBO. Starting today, fans can pre-order the first ever LIMBO 10” Vinyl Soundtrack featuring the haunting compositions of Martin Stig Andersen and brand-new album art by Playdead for $31.99 at iam8bit.com. Pre-orders will come to a close on Friday, August 22, and the vinyl will begin shipping in Q4 2025.
15 years ago, visionary developer Playdead burst onto the indie game scene with the puzzle-platformer LIMBO. Wordless and monochromatic, LIMBO captured hearts with its emotional weight and left an indelible print on the landscape of video game music. Now, the legendary soundtrack comes to vinyl for the first time. Pressed on Classic Black 10” vinyl, this edition delivers Martin Stig Andersen’s signature sound design with pristine clarity. From “Gravity Jump” to “Rotating Room” to “Boys’ Fort,” each track pulls you right back into the shadowy world of LIMBO.
The album art is a collector’s dream: bold, minimalist and rendered in stark black-and-white. In a rare departure from tradition, even the iam8bit and Playdead logos have been removed from the jacket’s exterior — because LIMBO deserves nothing less than total immersion. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a new admirer, this release is a striking tribute to one of gaming’s most unforgettable experiences.
