'Battlefield 6' Kicks Off Open Beta Weekend #2

by Rainier on Aug. 14, 2025 @ 9:23 a.m. PDT

Battlefield 6 is the next installment in the long-running Battlefield franchise, bringing a new all-out warfare experience.

In Battlefield 6, the series’ incredible blend of visceral combat, epic warfare, and player freedom returns. Blow through walls and bring down buildings for a tactical advantage or take to the skies in white-knuckle dogfights. Take part in a war filled with tanks, fighter jets, and sweeping combat at a grand scale but remember: the deadliest weapon is your squad.

Witness the vicious path of destruction carved by Pax Armata, the world’s leading private military company. PAX pursues the destruction of NATO and its allies, stopping at nothing to uphold their motto: “Our Protection, Your Peace.” Fight in high-intensity infantry combat. Demolish your environment for a strategic advantage. In a war of tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals, your squad is the deadliest weapon.

The year is 2027. The world is on the edge of chaos. After a high-profile assassination shocks the world, major European countries have left NATO, while the US and its allies grapple with the fallout. A massive private military corporation unafraid to cross lines, with deep pockets and the latest tech, looks to fill the power vacuum. This army is PAX ARMATA. What’s left of NATO is in tatters, wounded and battered. This is the world of Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 introduces a host of new features, including the all-new Kinesthetic Combat System, which brings enhancements to movement and gunplay. This gives players an unprecedented level of mobility, offering new tactical options such as Drag and Revive to pull teammates out of danger and back from the brink, and mounting weapons on walls to reduce recoil.

The iconic class system returns better than ever, with Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer, empowering players to define their role on the battlefield. The four roles have been enhanced, designed to empower players to push their team towards victory, each with class-specific gadgets, signature weapons and dedicated training. Destruction also returns, but enhanced to offer an unparalleled level of freedom, letting players transform the combat zone, to create new paths, flank enemies and dominate the battle.

Lock & load for the ultimate all-out warfare experience.

Your participation in Battlefield 6's first Open Beta weekend across PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S made it a truly unforgettable experience for the team. We're thrilled by your feedback, and are focusing on making the October 10th launch even better.

Looking back on the first Open Beta weekend, we wanted to share a few learnings and changes we're making for playlists before we kick things off with Open Beta Weekend 2.

Fight in high-intensity infantry combat all over the globe. Rip through the skies in aerial dogfights. Demolish your environment for a strategic advantage. Harness complete control over every action and movement using the Kinesthetic Combat System. In a war of tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals–your squad is the deadliest weapon. Battlefield 6 has more ways to win than ever before.

Playlists Adjustments

During Week 2, we're delivering more variety and choice for how you’d like to play with more playlists rotating between multiple different game modes. As an example, the All-Out Warfare playlist will include both Breakthrough, Conquest, and Rush. The in-game descriptions for each mode will tell you which modes are included in the rotation.

Rotating through multiple modes within playlists helps us understand what our community enjoys as we shape the launch experience, and enables us to keep more fan-favorite modes available at the same time.

Custom Search Options

Based on your previous feedback and to give you more control over map and mode selection, we're introducing a new feature called Custom Search.

This feature allows you to choose your favorite combinations of maps and modes. For example, if you want to play Conquest on Siege of Cairo, then matchmaking will prioritize putting you in a match with this combo, if available. Note that this is not a Server Browser (which is not being tested this week).

During Open Beta, Custom Search will be available for Open Weapon mode playlists so you can mix and match maps and modes as you prefer.

Weekend 2 Playlists Overview

Here is an overview of what the Open Beta Weekend 2 playlists will look like:

  • Day 1, Thursday 14th

Rotating through playlists daily is specific for the Open Beta while we're still able to test and gather feedback, and is not planned for launch.

Other details to note:

Training Grounds will continue to offer the Firing Range and gameplay introductions for classes, Breakthrough, and Conquest.

Players at career rank 15 and below can access Initiation Mode, which includes AI Soldiers. This initiation experience is tailored for new players and will shift from Breakthrough to Conquest. Separately, there will be a non-playable introduction to Rush as well.

Thank you for your feedback and enthusiasm over this weekend. We look forward to seeing how these playlist options work in the matchmaking and the flexibility they offer.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on the Battlefield again, starting this Thursday, August 14 at 08:00 UTC!
