Borderlands 4 is the most ambitious Borderlands to date, lovingly hand-crafted by the development studio that first forged the looter shooter genre.

If you love running headfirst into battle, soaking up damage and dishing it out in equal measure, you'd do well to check out Amon. In addition to being a resilient frontliner, Amon has a mechanically complex set of Action Skills with primary and secondary functions that'll leave room for experimentation, even with the most experienced players.

Amon was raised in a Vault monster-worshipping cult—until the Vault was opened and the creature turned on everyone he loved. As the only survivor, he dedicates his life to finding and killing as many of these beasts as he can. Amon, a warrior-poet, is introspective and unflinching to his duty, but despite his hardened appearance, he has a warm attitude, often regaling comrades in arms with stories and advice earned throughout his travels.

As a highly customizable tank, Amon can use his weaponized drones to adapt to any situation, including a wide range of Forgeskills that add an extra layer of utility to every Action skill. His Forge arsenal lets him attack or defend as needed, ready to pulverize enemies with a Forgehammer, slice them in twain with Forgeaxes, soak up damage with a Forgeshield, and much, much more.

Amon is the Forgeknight of Borderlands 4, a resilient and highly customizable frontliner who can use his weaponized drones to adapt to any situation.

Watch Amon tear his enemies asunder with an arsenal of Forgeweapons, which take form via the Forgedrones stored within Amon's cybernetic-enhanced beefcake body. Amon can attack or defend as needed, ready to pulverize enemies with a Forgehammer, slice them in twain with Forgeaxes, soak up damage with a Forgeshield, and much, much more.

Three distinct Action Skills are available to each Vault Hunter, but only one can be equipped at a time. Note that some items in the skill tree (Augments and Capstones) must be equipped into your loadout to gain their effects.

Every Vault Hunter has three skill trees, each stemming from an Action Skill. You'll need to invest five of the Skill Points you get from leveling up into a given row to unlock access to the next row. Once you've invested 15 total Skill Points into a skill tree, you'll have access to three Branches for that skill tree; at the bottom of those Branches is a powerful Capstone (more on those in a moment).

Augments are enhancements that provide secondary bonuses to your Action Skills. In most cases, only one Augment is equippable at a time.

Capstones are powerful enhancements that modify or override specific Action Skill functionalities. A Capstone can be found at the bottom of each branch of a Vault Hunter's Skill Tree. Only one Capstone is equippable at a time.

You can use Action Skills from other skill trees even if you haven't invested any points into them, but you won't be able to equip the powerful Augments or Capstones from one skill tree onto the Action Skill of a different skill tree. Committing Skill Points to the skill tree that will properly synergize with your favorite Action Skill is key!

Note that all skill names, descriptions, and numbers listed below are subject to change; Vault Hunters aren't exactly known for being predictable.

FORGEKNIGHT VAULT HUNTER TRAIT

Amon gains Forgeskill, depending on his equipped Action Skill.

Forgeskills can be Activated by pressing and holding an Action Skill.

Molten Slam (Onslaughter Action Skill equipped): Press and hold Action Skill to Slam a Molten Forgehammer into the ground, dealing Incendiary Melee Damage to enemies in a large area.

Firewall (Scourge Action Skill equipped): Press and hold Action Skill to deploy a Firewall that absorbs enemy Projectiles, and grants Friendly Projectiles that pass through it increased Damage and Projectile Speed. Absorbed Damage is converted into Vengeance if Scourge is active. Enemies near Firewall take Incendiary Status Effect Damage over time.

Double-Edge (Crucible Action Skill equipped): Press and hold Action Skill to throw a twinned Forgeaxe, dealing Cryo Melee Damage to enemies it passes through and returning to Amon, dealing Incendiary Melee Damage on the way back.

FORGEKNIGHT ACTION SKILLS

ONSLAUGHTER (Calamity skill tree)

Amon overloads his Forgefist, gaining constant Shield Regeneration, Bonus Incendiary Damage with Guns, and increased Movement Speed.

Press Action Skill or Melee to Rocket Punch, Dashing to target enemy, dealing Incendiary Melee Attack Damage in a short-ranged Cone, and causing Stagger.

Bosses cannot be Staggered, and Badasses have a chance to be Staggered.

SCOURGE (Vengeance skill tree)

Amon equips a Forgeshield that absorbs all frontal Damage as Vengeance. Whenever the Vengeance Meter is filled, Forgeshield provides Damage Reduction instead. Vengeance drains rapidly if it has not been gained recently.

Press Action Skill to launch a Forgewave, dealing Cryo Ordnance Damage to enemies it passes through, consuming Vengeance to increase Damage Dealt.

CRUCIBLE (Cybernetics skill tree)

Charge Skill (3). Amon readies Forgeaxes that can be thrown and picked up off the ground to refund Cooldown.

Can throw a Flame Axe, dealing Incendiary Melee Damage, or a Frost Axe, dealing Cryo Melee Damage.

Enemies damaged by Forgeaxes are Primed for a Duration, and will Detonate when they die or are damaged by a Forgeskill dealing Damage to nearby enemies.
