Remedy Entertainment Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary With iam8bit And Lost in Cult Collaborations, Steam Sale And Livestreams

by Rainier on Aug. 18, 2025 @ 9:00 a.m. PDT

Remedy Entertainment marks its 30th anniversary with collaborations from iam8bit and Lost in Cult, a Steam sale on select games, and special livestreams streaming Remedy games where Remedy plays Remedy games.

Remedy Entertainment celebrates its 30th year of making video games and always keeping its creative spirit alive by doing things just a bit differently…

Founded in August 1995 in Espoo, Finland, Remedy has its roots in the Finnish demoscene. Since its beginning and first game, Death Rally, Remedy has approached making games with the goal of creating unique, memorable experiences powered by cutting-edge, proprietary technology – the Northlight Engine. And just like a Remedy in-game collectible, there’s going to be a lot of text in this press release, but TL;DR, another batch of thermoses is coming.

How to encapsulate 30 years? Where to even begin? Remedy Entertainment’s Co-founder and the Chairman of the Board Markus Mäki, has the right words: "We started making video games in a basement in Espoo, Finland, likely because we wanted to escape the long and dark Finnish winters. We found the secret ingredient: an ocean’s worth of coffee, a lot of curiosity, and even a larger dose of passion. Those have kept us going and brought us to this moment, 30 years later. The offices have improved, and the coffee machines even more so. We remain curious and passionate about creating memorable experiences, and we're eager to see where that takes us. Above all, we are incredibly grateful to all of our fans taking this trip with us (and for coffee)."

Remedy marks 30 years of independently creating unique and memorable video games with the following:

  • A bespoke, commissioned illustration, featuring characters from the Remedy Connected Universe
  • 30th anniversary merchandise collaboration with iam8bit
  • Deep dive book on the Alan Wake franchise created by Lost in Cult
  • Heavily discounted anniversary sale on Steam for selected Remedy titles
  • A series of livestreams of Remedy's games called… “Remedy Games”
  • Celebrations with the community lasting for the rest of the month of August and longer

Today, Remedy Entertainment is proud to reveal a tribute to three decades of original characters with a commissioned art piece by Valentina Paz, well-known in the Remedy community for her work. The piece depicts a scene after an Old Gods of Asgard concert and features many familiar faces from the Remedy Connected Universe. Valentina was hand-picked to create the fully original, custom artwork with complete creative freedom.

Remedy's 30th birthday would not be a proper celebration without carefully curated merch. We are marking the occasion with collaborations that we know our fans will love, and we are very excited to reveal them to you today.

Remedy Entertainment has partnered with iam8bit to create a unique line of exclusive merchandise to celebrate the studio’s 30th anniversary. The collection pays tribute to Remedy’s most beloved franchises: Control, Alan Wake, Death Rally and the recently released FBC: Firebreak and the iconic Max Payne from Rockstar Games.

Eight bespoke items have been designed alongside iam8bit exclusively for this drop:

  • Control fans will delight in the Ashtray Maze ashtray (though we are definitely not promoting smoking), the Ashtray Maze PJ set, the Objects of Power (OoPs) pin set, and a Threshold Kids VHS tape
  • Alan Wake fans can look forward to the return of the enormously popular Oh Deer Diner thermos, with fresh releases like the Cold Casey lunchbox and Night Springs VHS. Both VHS tapes in the collection are playable in a VCR (yes! that used to be a thing) and have been designed with love and care by Valashard Video Tapes
  • Sartorially inclined fans can cop the official Max Payne Low Resolution shirt, which takes the original in-game texture of Max's Hawaiian-inspired threads and reproduces it onto a premium button-down
  • The final item of the collection is a Remedyverse shirt, inspired by the past and with future-proof, savvy streetwear design featuring Remedy heroes

As mentioned, the Oh Deer Diner thermos bottle, created in collaboration with the Finnish manufacturer Airam, is making a spectacular, and very likely final (final), comeback as part of the collection, so fans will have to turn off bullet time and act fast to secure their own.

  • The Oh Deer Diner thermos goes on sale via iam8bit on 20th August at 9am PT (6pm BST, 8pm EEST) here.

Pre-orders for the rest of the iam8bit Remedy 30th anniversary collection will go live on 21st August at 9am PT (6pm BST, 8pm EEST) here.

Lost In Cult, in collaboration with Remedy Entertainment, are proud to present Alan Wake: Design Works.

Across its two main titles and one spin-off, Alan Wake creator Sam Lake and Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment have crafted one of the most intriguing, most mysterious worlds ever committed to paper and pixel.

In Alan Wake: Design Works, we will shine a light onto the creation of this world. Gleaned from extensive developer interviews with key figures including Same Lake, Mikael Kasurinen, Ilkka Villi, Matthew Porretta, Melanie Liburd, David Harewood and many more, we have pieced together the development story of this truly special series in unprecedented detail.

From its concept as a Lynchian response to Remedy’s lauded Max Payne series, all the way to Wake’s fiction-shattering appearance alongside Old Gods of Asgard at the Game Awards, Alan Wake: Design Works is the ultimate tribute to a series like no other.

Much like Alan Wake’s multimedia existence, our thorough exploration of the series experiments with traditional mediums. Across 250 pages, interact with your copy of Alan Wake: Design Works, revealing exclusive concept art obscured by thermoreactive ink.

Alan Wake: Design Works is available to pre-order now. The Deluxe Edition is pre-order campaign exclusive, ending Friday, 17 October 2025. Shipping estimate Q4 2026.

As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, Remedy is holding a sale on their published titles on Steam.
