Once a vibrant hub of music, movement, and creative energy, Canvas City is now a sterilized sprawl of luxury apartments, corporate towers, and silent streets. Public art is outlawed. Music permits are impossible to obtain. Citizens drift through life, silent and uninspired.
But from the cracks in the pavement, a new wave is rising.
Players lead a crew of skaters and street artists rising up against an oppressive regime in a vibrant yet suppressed urban world. Combat blends traditional tactics depth with fluid, movement mechanics. Rails, ramps, and vertical terrain can be used mid-turn to chain tricks and attacks, earning Style Points to power up abilities.
From corporate-sponsored squads to chaotic performance artists, each opponent brings their own agenda, strategies, and style to the fight. Players will recruit and upgrade a crew from a roster of distinct characters, each with unique skills, tricks, and backstories. Master over 80 abilities, take on rival districts, and uncover the truth behind the city’s cultural crackdown.
Canvas City combines tactical gameplay depth with a rich, character-driven world and a rebellious spirit.
Climb the ranks. Earn your following. Spark a movement.
"Movement isn’t just getting from one spot to another, it's part of the plan" explains Technical Director Kris Nicholson. "Chaining tricks and attacks mid-turn changes how you think about positioning and opens up new ways to win."
The setting pushes beyond the fantasy kingdoms and military campaigns familiar to tactics fans. "We wanted to set this apart from the tactics games people might have played before by giving the players a fresh new setting, replacing modern or fantasy armies with crews of artists, musicians, and dancers" says Creative Director Johannes Otte.
Music plays a key role in that vision. "Every crew has its own personality, so the music shifts style to match." says Canvas City composer David Mason, "From heavy percussion to bright synths, it’s about making every encounter sound as distinct as it feels".
