'Overwatch 2' Reveals NERF Blasters Collaboration, Adding New Mode + Skins Tomorrow - Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 4, 2025 @ 11:10 a.m. PDT

Overwatch 2 is a supercharged sequel that will send players deeper into the world and story of Overwatch and build upon the original game's foundation of world-class PvP competition.

In Overwatch 2, players will take on the roles of the world’s heroes in cooperative missions that challenge them to team up, power up, and stand together against an overwhelming outbreak of threats around the globe. Players will also battle each other in the next evolution of competitive Overwatch play, which carries forward existing players’ accomplishments and loot collections and features the current complete Overwatch roster, a new generation of heroes, new internationally recognizable maps that widen the scope of the world, a new Push map type, and more.

In the sequel’s action-packed cooperative Story Missions, players will experience the advent of a new Overwatch as Winston, Tracer, and other members of the original Overwatch join forces with a new generation of heroes. Players will take an active role in the Overwatch saga as a new global crisis unfolds through a series of intense, high-stakes four-player missions. As the story progresses, players will team up as different sets of heroes and fight to defend the world from the omnic forces of Null Sector, uncover the motives behind the robotic armies’ attacks, and come face-to-face with rising new threats around the globe.

Ever feel nostalgia for the days of playing heroes with NERF blasters in the backyard? Overwatch 2 is bringing those memories back in its limited-time crossover with NERF, running August 5 through 18. The Overwatch x NERF collab is packed with blaster-inspired weapon skins styled after some of NERF’s most iconic gear.

It’s time to flip the script and get blasted! Overwatch 2 is teaming up with NERF for a limited-time collab that’s all about fast reflexes, foam-fueled fights, and fearless fun. From tomorrow and through Aug. 18, swap your loadout for spring-loaded plastic and get into the action with all-new blaster cosmetics, earnable rewards, and a chaotic game mode that makes every elimination feel like a masterful victory lap.

Getting NERF’d never felt so epic!

Pick Your Plastic

Loadouts don’t get much louder or more colorful than this! The Overwatch x NERF collab is packed with blaster-inspired weapon skins styled after some of NERF’s most iconic gear. Cassidy headlines the collab with a Legendary skin that comes with custom visuals, unique sound effects, the NERF Maverick blaster and a Vortex Football to boot.

He’s joined by Tracer’s earnable Gelfire Pros, Genji dual wielding a Slingerang plus Power Blast Bat, and Mei bringing the pressure (literally) with the classic Super Soaker XP100. Additionally, Hanzo’s got a Big Bad Bow, Baptiste runs the Galactic Commander, the newest NERF blaster from the Loadout line, and Soldier: 76’s precision gets the plastic treatment with N Series Pinpoint.

Each NERF skin can be equipped on top of your existing Hero skins—so no matter how you style your fit, your foam is fixin’ to be fully loaded.

NERF or Nothin’ Mode

This isn’t your typical showdown. It’s as chaotic and high-energy as a living room grudge match between friends and family with every blaster, bat, or bow you could find in the garage.

NERF or Nothin’ is a fast-paced free-for-all where eight players drop in, and the first to hit 20 eliminations claims the win. You’ll start with a random Hero (minus Mercy and Lifeweaver, who are sitting this one out), and every elimination earns you a new Hero. Some of them will come with a new NERF blaster skin to master in combat. Can’t snag a kill? You’ll still rotate after three deaths. No repeats either: once you’ve played a Hero, you won’t get them again.

Cooldowns? Basically gone. Everyone’s working with 80% cooldown reduction, so the action is constant. Your Ultimate charge sticks around after death, and if you swap Heroes, you’ll start with 15% Ult charge, ready to go.

The maps? It’s a greatest hits list including Chateau, Petra, Kanezaka, Malevento, King’s Row, Hollywood, Dorado, Eichenwalde, Blizzard World, and even Paris.

Think of it as a weapon mastery trial with a lot more plastic, a lot less time to think, and seriously fun NERF  foamfighting in every direction. Adapt or get blasted.

Conquer to Score the Gear

In this collab, the foamfights equal real rewards. Conquer event challenges to unlock a themed spray, player icon, foam dart weapon charm, and Tracer’s Gelfire Pro weapon skin, plus up to 40k Battle Pass XP. NERF or Nothin’ is the only place to earn event progress and rewards, so if you want the goods, blast through those challenges.

Shop the Drop

Looking to complete your arsenal? Shop limited-time cosmetics bundles during the event, including the full lineup of weapon skins. Grab the NERF Mega Bundle to blast through the chaos with every blaster at your side.

The Overwatch 2 x NERF collab runs from August 5–18, so get NERF’d, Heroes... and start blasting!

To help realize these missions, the sequel also introduces significant engine upgrades that support larger maps for co-op (PvE) play, as well as the wide variety of new enemies and factions that players will encounter on their missions. The game also introduces visual enhancements designed to bring players’ favorite heroes—and their new looks for Overwatch 2—to life in greater detail.

Overwatch 2 also represents the beginning of a new era for the series’ world-renowned competitive 6v6 play. In addition to carrying forward all of the original game’s heroes, maps, and modes—as well as existing Overwatch players’ accomplishments and loot collections—the sequel adds multiple new playable heroes to the ever-growing roster; widens the scope of the world with even more maps and locations; and adds a new Push map type, in which two teams compete to make a robot (that happens to be pretty good at pushing things) push the map’s objective to their opponent’s side.

Overwatch 2 also renews Blizzard’s commitment to continue supporting the existing Overwatch community. Current Overwatch players will battle side-by-side with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer. In addition, current Overwatch players will be able to play Overwatch 2 heroes and maps, ensuring the core PvP experience remains dynamic and vital for today’s community in the Overwatch 2 era.

Overwatch 2 is available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
