by Rainier on Aug. 4, 2025 @ 11:24 a.m. PDT

Tekken 8 brings the fight to the next generation, using Unreal Engine 5 and creating one of the most visually stunning and immersive titles in the genre yet.

Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games and takes full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles

"Fist Meets Fate” in the dramatic new storyline in Tekken 8.

The Tekken series holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running video game storyline, with Tekken 8 continuing the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. This latest saga begins where the previous title left off, with a world mired deep in the devastating war between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. After suffering what seems to be a defeat from Kazuya, Jin faces his own fate. His mother, Jun Kazama, appears after her absence from the Tekken franchise to try and turn the tide in this blood feud.

Tekken 8 will feature exciting new gameplay focused on “Aggressive” tactics. Retaining Tekken’s unique fighting game identity, the game will provide both players and spectators with the series’ most thrilling experience yet with visceral screen-jarring attacks and environments that are both dynamic and destructible.

Bandai Namco Entertainment unveiled a slate of Tekken 8 news and first looks at Evo 2025, giving glimpses of upcoming DLC characters and revealing details of when and where the next King of Iron Fist will be crowned at the Tekken World Tour Finals.

Fans got an in-depth look at Armor King, the next DLC character coming to the game, in the all-new gameplay trailer above.

The iconic character will return to the Tekken roster on October 16, with 72-hour early access for Season 2 Character & Stage Pass and Season 2 Character Pass holders beginning October 13. The trailer also revealed the much-anticipated final DLC character for Season 2, introducing new fighter Miary Zo. Hailing from Madagascar, Miary Zo will join the roster in Winter 2025 as the first original DLC character to join TEKKEN 8, with the Winter DLC also introducing a new stage set in her home country.

Thirsting for revenge, the jet-black villain Armor King returns to the Tekken ring. The “Dark Supernova” now sports a fiery mane, and as showcased in the trailer, brings back his arsenal of explosive moves and devastating combos. His addition to TEKKEN 8 grows the game’s roster to 39 fighters. See the full roster and learn about the legendary characters in the game on the official Tekken 8 roster breakdown.

Even as they prepare to play Armor King, fans can already look forward to the next fighter, Miary Zo – the first original DLC character coming to TEKKEN 8. Miary Zo’s brief reveal included glimpses of a new level coming with her as part of the Winter DLC. The trailer showcased environments set in her historically rich homeland of Madagascar, featuring the island nation’s recognizable architecture and iconic baobab trees basked in the glow of a setting sun. Bandai Namco will reveal more information about Winter DLC content in the coming months.

The EVO 2025 finals also featured an unforgettable showdown, where Arslan Ash emerged victorious. At the conclusion of the event, Bandai Namco announced that the 2025 Tekken World Tour Finals will be held in Malmö, Sweden from January 29 – February 1, 2026, with group stages for Global and Regional Leaderboards beginning January 29.

In Tekken 8, all characters’ models have been completely remade from the ground up, making the most of the latest generation of hardware and providing a better experience for players.

Tekken 8 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
