Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings back courses that include land, air, and sea terrain as well as the never-before seen Travel Rings feature that affects the race in real time by transporting racers to all new CrossWorlds during the race.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also offers the largest roster of iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog and SEGA universes in any Sonic racing game, as well as a wide variety of customizable vehicles. Players can mix and match vehicle parts, powers, and abilities to create a customized racing experience suited to their gameplay style.

SEGA announced the first official tournament for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds through Twitch Rivals! In partnership with Twitch, invited creators in both the United States and European regions will have the chance to prove who’s got Sonic speed and compete for first place and a cash prize! 

The tournament will begin with qualifiers in both regions on Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27 with finals happening on Friday, October 3. Please find more details about the tournament schedule and structure below: 

Tournament Schedule: 

• NA Qualifiers: September 26, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM PT

• EU Qualifiers: September 27, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM PT 

• Finals: October 3, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM PT

Tournament Structure:

• Two lobbies per region

• • One competitive and one casual

• 12 racers per lobby

• Top six racers from each lobby in each region advance to the finals:

• • 6 NA Competitive

  • 6 EU Competitive

  • 6 NA Casual

  • 6 EU Casual

• Prizing:

• • $10,000 for the winner of each bracket

• Extreme Gear is Back!: Having first appeared in Sonic Riders, the long-time fan favorite Extreme Gear flying hoverboards, are back for some extreme fun in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is coming Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam) on September 25, 2025 at $69.99 USD, followed by Nintendo Switch later in 2025.
