Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is the next installment in the RTS franchise bringing loyal commanders deep solo campaigns, classic Warhammer storytelling, and even a painter tool to customize your units on the field.

In the grim darkness of the far future, war has returned to the ravaged world of Kronus.

Prepare to unleash hell in Dawn of War IV, the next chapter in the iconic Warhammer 40,000 RTS series.

Set many years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, war has returned to the planet Kronus, along with Captain Cyrus, Chief Librarian Jonah Orion and Warboss Gorgutz and several new commanders as four factions fight for supremacy. Kronus features a number of distinct biomes including the Wasteland, Iceland, Highlands, Hive City & Manufactorum regions.

Cyrus narrates his own life of duty, war, and sacrifice, revealing the four main playable factions: Space Marines (Blood Ravens), Orks, Adeptus Mechanicus, and the Necrons, and returning characters such as Jonah and Gorgutz. It shows the grim, dark, and brutal nature of war at an epic scale, both ranged and melee.

Fight through 70+ epic campaign missions solo or with a friend as you experience a story crafted by legendary Black Library author John French. Immerse yourself in endlessly replayable modes including Last Stand and Skirmish, or take the fight to the world with intense multiplayer combat.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV marks a triumphant return to the franchise's roots, with classic base-building, large armies, and deep strategic gameplay all brought to life through modern innovations and a fresh narrative set on the iconic planet Kronus, approximately 200 years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.

Enjoy an endlessly replayable collection of game modes, including the return of fan-favourite Last Stand! Fight highly-configurable AI battles in Skirmish, or take on the world in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 multiplayer. Wherever you’re waging war, use the Painter tool to stamp your own unique personality on your fighting forces, as well as the option to use existing factions from the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

The RTS King is back...and is bigger than ever!

Deep Silver and KING Art Games have officially released the first trailer captured entirely from in-engine gameplay for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV.

The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV “Back to War” in-engine trailer marks a long-awaited return to the planet Kronus, many years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.

This trailer offers a sneak peek into what players can expect from this highly anticipated installment in the Dawn of War series, closing with the rallying call to arms: At last, back to war.

Witness classic RTS battles and cinematic spectacle, featuring the return of base building to the series, the expansive battle animations of the Combat Director feature, and the diverse biomes players will discover as they fight to reclaim Kronus.

Kronus burns again

Space Marines clash with brutal Ork hordes, joined by their allies in the Adeptus Mechanicus, equally determined to eradicate the enemy. Victory is just within reach, until a new threat emerges: the Necrons. As this new faction overwhelms the battlefield, the Imperium forces must rebuild and grow their forces if they hope to stand a chance.

Whose banner will rise from the flames?

Key features:

  • Four fully playable and distinct factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Each of the four factions in Dawn of War IV have a separate campaign which tells a different side of the overall story, featuring a total of 70+ missions.
  • Extensive solo campaigns and other game modes: Skirmish, co-op, and competitive multiplayer, along with the return of the fan-favorite Last Stand. In each of the game’s modes, players build bases, assume control of faction Commanders, gather resources, and command units to ultimately overwhelm the enemy’s forces.
  • Legendary Warhammer storytelling at its finest: Co-written by legendary Black Library author John French, each faction has its own cinematic CGI intro, which leads into a non-linear campaign, providing a wealth of replayability for players who want to explore every inch of this epic saga.
  • Biggest Dawn of War at launch: Four distinct factions, 10+ playable Commanders, 110+ units / buildings, many of which are customizable, an in-game editor for player-created content, and a Painter tool for unit customization.
  • Modern innovation mixed with classic RTS mechanics: With the revolutionary Combat Director, gameplay will have a next-level display of visceral melee combat.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is coming to PC (Steam) in 2026.
