'Seafarer: The Ship Sim' Reveals Early Access Development Roadmap - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 30, 2025 @ 7:00 a.m. PDT

Seafarer: The Ship Sim is the ultimate maritime experience that promises deep immersion with impressive Unreal 5 visuals and Nvidia Waveworks 2.0 technologies.

Experience life at sea as you take the helm of various vessels and carve your own path in an expansive maritime world. Join different factions, each offering unique missions and rewards, from cargo transportation and fire-fighting on open waters to high-stakes rescues and treasure recovery. With a diverse fleet ranging from nimble tugboats to massive freighters, every voyage presents fresh challenges and surprises.

A fully interactive ship experience awaits—walk freely around your vessel, conduct maintenance, operate heavy machinery, and even take control of water cannons to battle onboard fires. Every decision shapes your journey, ensuring no two adventures are the same.

Engage in a gripping storyline in Story Mode, where all factions intertwine across a series of thrilling missions, or explore freely in Quick Play Mode, charting your own course at sea. The character editor allows players to personalize their captain, adding a unique touch to the experience.

Unparalleled Realism & Immersion powered by Unreal Engine 5Seafarer: The Ship Sim boasts breathtaking visuals, from meticulously detailed ship models to dynamic seascapes. Ports bustle with activity, oil rigs rise against the horizon, and unpredictable waters keep players on their toes. Enhanced by NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0, waves react naturally to changing weather and ship movement, delivering an incredibly lifelike seafaring experience.

While the game will already have loads of content to explore at its PC Early Access (Steam / Epic Games Store) launch on October 7, 2025, it will receive several big content updates during the Early Access phase that will extend the game, as well as add community wishes and feedback. Players will be able to see what to expect with a dedicated roadmap revealed today.

More information about upcoming updates and features can be found in the newly revealed Trello board of Seafarer: The Ship Sim.

At Early Access start the game already provides over 30 hours of gameplay and an impressive fleet of six unique ships to tackle the tasks of the first two factions available:

  • For their cargo career at Crescentport Logistics, they can rely on the strong Tugboat Bernhard as well as the dependable Cargo ferry Herbert.
  • For going on duty with Tide Guard they have the choice between the Police boat Rigid and the Police ship Density, both designed for patrolling the open seas efficiently. If they need to provide firefighting support, the firefighting specialists Archer and Lancer are the right choice

With such a strong fleet, players can either dive directly into the first story mode campaign act or quickly jump into Quickplay Mode to simply enjoy each mission on its own. But before making the choice, the character editor is where the player’s own captain can be created.

New updates will be shipped soon
While players can already enjoy the open seas starting on October 7, new major free updates are already in the works, with the first one releasing in the last quarter of this year.

Update 1- Crescentport Logistics: The Bulk and LNG Update (Estimated Release: Q4 2025):
The first update will add more ships to the game that also come with new mission types for the cargo faction. Players can look forward to meeting the newest ship Big Trip, which brings large-scale containers shipping to life, while its fellow vessels Bulk Willy and Nordic Duchess introduce bulk cargo and LNG operations (Liquified natural gas operations). Alongside these ships and new missions, the update will also include bug fixes and ongoing improvements to ensure smooth sailing.

Update 2 - Tide Guard: The Rescue Update (Estimated Release: Q1 2026)
The second update will grow the Tide Guard fleet with the two new police ships Salvation and Grace, which will also introduce rescue operations. Again, this update will also include fixes, improvements and community wishes.

Sneak Peek of future updates
While these two updates are the first ports of call, the voyage doesn’t end there. The team is working on even more content for the future, including:

  • New missions for Crescentport Logistics and Tide Guard
  • Additional Story Mode Acts
  • A Vessel Editor
  • A new faction (to be revealed later!)
  • Expanded map areas
  • Online co-op and multiplayer missions
  • More ships

Key Features:

  • The open sea: Players can expect an expansive map inspired by northern European landscapes that invites exploration.
  • Varied career: Different factions offer different missions, each with their own gameplay elements. Explore the extensive world, load valuable cargo or help ships in distress.
  • Take the helm: From small tugboats to gigantic freighters, players navigate a variety of ships through the rough seas.
  • Tasks and duties: Checking machinery, operating cranes and using water cannons - there is always something to do on your own ship.
  • Experience the waves: Unreal Engine 5 and NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0 offer stunning visuals and realistic wave simulations.
  • No two journeys are the same: The sandbox gameplay with dynamic weather, realistic day/night changes and the character editor ensure a constantly individualized gaming experience.
