Play alone or with your friends, Dungeons Deep is a non-linear dungeon crawler set in a dark fantasy world. Battle orcs, goblins, demons, skeletons, spiders, dragons and many more creatures.
Taking a departure from popular Soulslike mechanics like lock-on camera and combat, Dungeons Deep favors a visceral over-the-shoulder view and weapons with precise hitboxes offering methodically-paced combat and abilities, randomized dungeon designs, hordes of different enemy types, bosses, and more. All said, Dungeons Deep imagines what dungeon crawlers like Diablo would play like in three dimensions.
Dungeons Deep's story follows an order of soldiers and mercenaries that return to the plagued kingdom of Antioch. Their quest is to plunder the depths for ancient artifacts, and rid the former kingdom of creatures that lurk in the darkness, preying on those who remain in these lands. Although some come for more clandestine purposes. Enemy difficulty in Dungeons Deep is largely based on the different tactics and behaviors of the creatures you're fighting. In many cases they will learn what you’re doing and change tactics. Mistakes will be punished. In order to survive you must learn your enemies' weaknesses, and exploit them quickly.
Hand-crafted rooms are procedurally re-arranged every time you enter the dungeon for a fresh experience. These locations feature a wide variety of themes with variations of enemies and bosses selected from the numerous factions. This means you will never play the same dungeon twice, bringing a new challenge every time you step in without the typical pitfall empty feeling fully-procedural dungeons.
Persistent progression and an open skill tree means with each level and skill point you choose your characters path. There are no weapon restrictions so any class can wield whatever you like.
Hundreds of satisfying loot options over several rarity types that will boost your abilities and help you specialize your character. You can also find and mine resources to craft weapons and armor.
Spend your gold to build your camp with upgrades that will help you tackle quests. Bring in a blacksmith to sell or forge exotic weapons, or a sorcerer to unlock magical scrolls. Hire mercenaries to assist you on your journeys or pack mules to carry your loot.
"Dungeons Deep draws its most inspiration from Diablo II, in its grim setting, ARPG mechanics, and spatial inventory system," notes Enraged Gamers. "We were also inspired by the dismemberment and combat in Severance: Blade of Darkness. Dungeons Deep stands out by combining an immersive over-the-shoulder perspective with skill-driven combat where every swing, dodge, and spell truly matters. Interestingly, during early development, the enemy AI glitched where instead of attacking normally, it started circling the player in this eerie, unpredictable way. It was actually creepier than what we had planned, so we recreated the behavior so that certain enemies will stalk and flank the player... we hope players notice these details!"
Dungeons Deep is also currently on Kickstarter, looking to raise $15,000 to complete development with key features, with several stretch goals planned such as console releases, an expanded campaign, co-operative mode, and additional player classes and customization.
