The relentless swarms act as real crowds, as zombies trip over obstacles, squeeze through tight spaces, and climb on top of each other to reach players no matter where they try to hide.

The dead are rising in Georgia in a new tale of survival featuring iconic heroes from AMC's The Walking Dead in World War Z!

Saber Interactive revealed a January 29, 2026 launch date for its upcoming The Walking Dead DLC for World War Z.

The Walking Dead DLC features three new story chapters set in iconic TWD locations (the Prison, Alexandria Safe Zone and Grady Memorial Hospital) and four playable characters - Rick, Daryl, Negan and Michonne - each with their signature weapons.

"Saber has built incredible partnerships across the biggest horror universes and properties, so joining forces with The Walking Dead felt like a natural fit for World War Z,” said Matthew Karch, CEO and co-founder of Saber Interactive. “Uniting these two worlds is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and it's amazing to finally have it happening.”

World War Z x The Walking Dead DLC Features:

• Experience a new story campaign set in the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

• Take on three new chapters: the Prison, Alexandria Safe Zone and Grady Memorial Hospital.

• Four playable survivors: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Michonne, and Negan.

• Two new melee weapons: Michonne's Katana and Negan’s Bat “Lucille”.

• Two new weapon skins: Rick’s Revolver and Daryl’s Crossbow.

• World War Z’s signature Zekes have been transformed into Walkers.

• New special Zeke – Spiked Walkers: An even deadlier variant of Walker with tougher defenses that is impervious to melee until it’s been knocked prone. Force them to the ground with enough damage, then go in for a quick melee kill before it rises again!

Each of World War Z’s six playable classes comes loaded with several unique perks, but here’s a taste of what’s in store for the undead hordes when you play:

• Gunslinger – For those who skip the questions and shoot first, the Gunslinger is loaded with an arsenal of weapon damage and ammo-boosting perks to mow down the dead.
• Hellraiser – Enough explosives can solve any problem! Hellraisers come armed with C4 and other tools for effective crowd control.
• Slasher – For warriors with a sense of elegance, the best way to kill is with your trusty blade. Slashers have perks that increase melee damage and effectiveness while their armed tasers deliver electrifying results.
• Medic – Sometimes the best way to fight the undead is keeping your teammates from becoming one of them. Armed with a Stim Pistol, Medics can heal fellow survivors from a distance and help keep the chaos under control.
• Fixer – When versatility in any situation is the highest priority, the Fixer is there for you, starting out with an explosive ammo case and several teammate ammo-restoring perks.
• Exterminator – Fire is the answer! Armed with Molotov cocktails and increased fire damage, the Exterminator just wants to watch the undead burn.

World War Z is available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Epic Games Store and Steam).
