The Gold River Project invites players on an open world camping trip gone wrong where you explore a vast wilderness shaped by abandoned experiments, shifting seasons, and unseen forces.
The Gold River Project invites players to explore a vast wilderness shaped by abandoned experiments, shifting seasons, and unseen forces. Playable solo or with friends, the game blends grounded survival systems with atmosphere-driven mystery, creating a sense of mounting tension as players push deeper into the unknown.
Unlike traditional survival games, The Gold River Project puts players in control of progression. Seasons do not advance automatically. Instead, players decide when (or if) they push deeper into more dangerous territory. The experience emphasizes atmosphere, discovery, and survival over constant combat by using sound design, weather, and isolation to create tension and emergent storytelling.
The Gold River Project’s Steam Early Access release marks the beginning of an evolving experience, with additional content, systems, and polish planned leading into a full 1.0 launch.
“From the beginning, we wanted The Gold River Project to feel like a real camping trip with friends, one where you’re free to explore, slow down, and enjoy the wilderness, but where the environment can quickly remind you that survival isn’t guaranteed,” said David Parkes, Co-Founder and Lead Game Designer at Fairview Games. “Early Access lets us build that experience alongside the community and shape the game into something deeper and more unpredictable over time.”
Players can:
- Explore a large open world inspired by the Pacific Northwest
- Build camp, craft gear, and manage hunger, thirst, and exposure
- Progress through shifting seasons from Summer to Fall to Winter
- Play solo or cooperatively online with up to 4 players
- Choose multiple paths forward through exploration, puzzles, stealth, or confrontation
The Early Access version includes the core survival experience, co-op play, seasonal progression, base building, wildlife encounters, and mystery-driven exploration.
Key Features:
- Camp Solo or With Friends: Welcome to Gold River! A remote camping adventure you can play alone or with up to 4 friends. A chartered float plane will drop you off by beautiful lakes where you can kayak, hike the gorgeous trails, make camp and survive the elements.
