Fusing retro-inspired pixel art with chaotic four-player co-op combat, Scott Pilgrim EX sends players on a wild, time-warped brawling adventure across a reimagined Toronto.
Scott Pilgrim EX reimagines the fan-favorite universe with a modern approach to traditional brawlers.
In Scott Pilgrim EX, members of Toronto’s coolest band, Sex Bob-omb, are kidnapped and their instruments stolen as the city is terrorized by demons, vegan henchmen and robots. Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers and other unlikely allies including Lucas and Roxie must bash their way across the city, from its streets to its beaches and maybe even back in time to save the band, the city and the world. A total of seven playable fighters will be featured, with Scott and Ramona set to gain more confirmed allies ahead of Scott Pilgrim EX’s release.
With hard-hitting combat and explosive art, Scott Pilgrim EX reinvents classic 2D brawling for a new era, blending high-energy action with fun character progression. Each of the seven playable characters features a full move set from the start, but players can customize their experience through upgradeable stats, and equippable special items making every fighter feel truly personal. Players will be able to dive into a brand-new storyline, co-written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and the team at Tribute Games. They can also unleash creative combos, wield wild weapons, and brawl through co-op action—set to all-new music by Anamanaguchi —as Scott Pilgrim EX delivers a bold new chapter for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Developer/publisher Tribute Games, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, revealed that Scott Pilgrim EX will be launching on March 3.
In between the references to Scott Pilgrim video game legends of the past, two new characters have also been announced for Scott Pilgrim EX - Matthew Patel and Robot-01.
Today’s brand-new fighters coming to Scott Pilgrim EX are two more former enemies of Scott and Ramona: Matthew Patel, a member of the series’ iconic League of Evil Exes, and Robot-01, a creation of two members of the league, the Katayanagi Twins, built to beat the snot out of Scott.
- Matthew Patel brings theatrical flair and mystic chaos to the battlefield. With a style that blends fire and ritualistic showmanship, Patel manipulates the flow of combat like a puppet master - using his summoned demon hipsters to distract enemies, control crowds and lay traps that can tip the scales in his team’s favor. His supernatural abilities allow him to call forth extra arms, launch flame bursts and unleash devastating finishing moves imbued with mythic power.
- Robot-01, meanwhile, is all precision and punishment - rocketing across the screen with thrusters and transformations, delivering brutal blows at blistering speed. A combat unit built for mayhem, Robot-01 morphs mid-battle, fires long-range blasts and unleashes a powerful strong attack that rains explosive projectiles across the screen, clearing out crowds in a flash.
