Sunwise Games Is A New Studio By Former Squid Game: Unleashed Devs

by Rainier on Jan. 5, 2026 @ 2:27 p.m. PST

Sunwise Games was founded by the core team from Boss Fight Entertainment following Netflix’s decision to shut down its internal games division in the fall of 2025.

Despite the commercial success of Squid Game: Unleashed, which surpassed 10 million downloads on Google Play alone, the studio was closed as part of broader corporate changes.

Rather than dispersing, the team made a deliberate decision to stay together and form a new independent studio. Sunwise represents a rare moment in the industry: a proven team choosing independence not out of necessity, but out of conviction.

Sunwise is currently developing its first project, a new original game shaped by the team’s shared history and creative philosophy.

More details will be revealed in the coming months.

“This team is different because it consistently chooses discipline over hype and execution over aspiration. Sunwise reflects the kind of studio culture I believe the industry needs to build sustainable, high-quality games. I created Sunwise because it’s the change I want to see in the games industry: clear scope, ethical monetization, and teams built to deliver reliably over time. The studio is designed as a durable business, not a short-term bet. I’m excited to prove that this model works at scale. Sunwise is positioned to show that disciplined production and long-term thinking can create both strong returns and enduring games,” stated Sunwise founder Irin Berry.

The Sunwise team brings deep experience across:

  • Systems-driven game design
  • Live game operations
  • Scalable production pipelines
  • Player-first monetization
  • Community-driven development
