When the sailor opens their eyes once more, will they see the glass bottle floating in magenta currents, or the butterfly perched on a rusted mast?

Sea Of Remnants invites players into a visually captivating world, where they assume the role of a puppet-like sailor who has lost all their memories. Alongside a mysterious girl, players will voyage across vast seas, uncharted islands and a city slowly awakening to its secrets. Through open-world exploration, intense naval combat and dynamic interactions with a cast of over 300 eccentric characters, players will uncover the truth behind their forgotten identity and shape the fate of the world around them.

On this sprawling journey, players can recruit a crew of unique puppetfolk allies, customize their ships with modular upgrades, and build specialized teams for exploration and turn-based battles. Every decision—whether sparing enemies or seizing opportunities—will unleash dramatic ripple effects across the world. With rival factions reacting to each choice and Orbtopia's cityscape evolving in response, no two captains will share the same story.

NetEase Games unveiled a new look at gameplay for Sea Of Remnants, and also announced the upcoming Closed Alpha Test on February 5, 2026.

The new gameplay trailer offers a tantalizing look at the life of a pirate in the world of Sea of Remnants, including the open world exploration, sea monster battles and several of the mini-games players can encounter in the majestic city of Orbtopia

The trailer also reveals the upcoming launch of the "Wanderer Test", a small-scale Closed Alpha, which runs from February 5th to February 12th on PC.

Players have from today until January 23 to apply for the test, by following the official Sea of Remnants X account and engaging with this post or by joining the official Sea of Remnants Discord, and completing the application questionnaire. Questionnaires will also be available on platforms including Steam and Reddit. Spaces to participate in the test are extremely limited and Eligible Captains will be notified if they are selected to receive test access.
