New Cross-Media Partnership Brings Welsh Horror Stories to Film and Interactive Audiences

by Rainier on Feb. 12, 2026 @ 10:39 a.m. PST

Indie studio Altt Productions and publisher Wales Interactive announced a new creative partnership focused on developing original horror and genre storytelling projects designed for both feature film and interactive full motion video (FMV) game formats.

The collaboration brings together Wales Interactive’s decades of experience developing internationally released narrative titles including Maid of Sker, Sker Ritual, The Complex, and Dead Reset, alongside Bristol-based horror development studio Altt’s startup-minded, tech-enabled approach to filmmaking. Together, the companies are designing a shared development pipeline that allows a story’s core tension and beat structure to translate naturally into both linear film and interactive formats, incorporating audience choice, branching paths, and replayability.

“We met Oliver and Ashley through Creative UK and were struck not just by their love of genre, but by how they engineer storytelling,” said Mark Hindmarsh of Wales Interactive. “We’re delighted to be investing in two initial projects. We will co-develop and produce what will be Wales Interactive’s first ever linear film title for cinematic audiences, alongside a new interactive movie distributed globally across all major gaming platforms. With access to our patented WIST script-generation software, we can prototype narrative paths more effectively than ever before. I’m excited by the projects already greenlit and the long-term future of this partnership.”

Ashley Porciuncula, Managing Director and co-founder of Altt, commented: “Altt exists to challenge how genre films are developed. We are thrilled to be partnering with Wales Interactive to design these horror projects as living systems rather than single outputs. Film, interactivity, and audience behaviour all feed the same creative spine, which is how we believe modern genre storytelling should work.”

“Horror isn’t just about scare tactics,” said Oliver Park, Altt’s Creative Director and co-founder. “It’s about atmosphere, psychology, and emotional connection. By designing stories that can breathe across multiple formats, we amplify those elements. Interactivity allows audiences to explore fear from the inside out, and this partnership lets us do that at scale.”

The first project will build upon an existing award-winning video game franchise, while the second explores a bold new original concept within the supernatural horror subgenre. Both projects will be developed using WIST, Wales Interactive’s patented script-generation software, alongside Altt’s proprietary creative technical systems.

The collaboration reflects a growing creative bridge between Wales and South West England, two regions with deep roots in genre cinema, from folklore-inspired horror traditions to contemporary grassroots filmmaking scenes.

Further announcements will follow as the projects progress.
