Amazon Games No Longer Publishing Maverick Games' Open-World Driving Game

Announced in 2023 and picked up by Amazon Games in 2024, Maverick Games is developing a premium open-world driving game.

Led by an all-star leadership team, Maverick Games is developing a new, premium open-world game for consoles and PC.

Maverick’s founding team is led by Mike Brown as Creative Director and Studio Head. He is joined by Harinder Sangha as COO (previously Co-studio Head, Sumo Digital Leamington). Also from Playground Games, having recently shipped the multi-award winning Forza Horizon 5, are Tom Butcher as Executive Producer, Matt Craven as CTO, Gareth Harwood as Content Director and Fraser Strachan as Audio Director. Ben Penrose joins as Art Director from Sharkmob London having previously been Playground Games’ Studio Art Director, and Elly Marshall rounds out the leadership team as UX/UI Director (previously Experience Design Director at EA).

Amazon Games has reportedly parted ways with UK developer Maverick Games, and will no longer publish the devs' upcoming open-world driving game.

Amazon Games will be shutting down New World: Aeternum in 2027, recently sold off March of Giants IP and Amazon Montreal Games development team to Ubisoft, and earlier this week revealed it will close servers for King of Meat.

Maverick Games, based in Warwick, United Kingdom, is run by award-winning studio leader Harinder Sangha (Sega Hardlight, Sumo Leamington) as COO, and currently has a team of more than 60 people.

The new game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
