'Apex Legends' Season 28: Breach Next Week, Celebrates 7th Anniversary With Event, Legend Updates, Destructible Windows And More - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 3, 2026 @ 9:30 a.m. PST

Set in the Titanfall universe, Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale game with a cast of unique characters, squad-based gameplay, innovative mechanics and more.

Apex Legends delivers a squad-based battle royale experience with a uniquely Respawn flavor. Players will select from one of eight Legends - each with their own unique abilities and playstyles - and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.

Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Once players are ready to begin, they’ll choose their drop point with the Jumpmaster system, giving each squad full control over exactly where they drop in. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?

Brace yourself: Close-quarters combat just got way more intense. Destructible Hardlight Mesh windows have hit the Outlands, smash through to open up devastating new entry points, or reinforce to hold the line.

Break through or make your stand with new Legend updates. Become the unstoppable aggressor with Fuse and Bloodhound: jump past their lines, rain down chaos, and hunt down anyone who runs. Or become an unbreakable defender with Catalyst and Controller Legends: build deadly ambushes, fortify your position, and watch attackers crumble against your defenses.

Oh, and did we mention it was our birthday? Celebrate seven years of Apex Legends and gear up your squad with tactical skins from the Breach Battle Pass and complete challenges to unlock Legends permanently.

EA and Respawn released a new gameplay trailer for Apex Legends: Breach, showing off how players can master intensified close-quarters combat while celebrating seven years of legendary battles.

In this anniversary season, new destructible Hardlight Mesh windows have hit the Outlands, and players can smash through to open up devastating new entry points, or reinforce to hold the line. Plus, new Legend updates allow players to crush enemy defenses with Fuse and Bloodhound, or become unbreakable with Catalyst.

Apex Legends: Breach shatters the meta with in-game updates, including:

  • Hardlight Mesh Enters The Outlands
    • Hardlight Mesh are the new destructible and repairable windows that turn buildings into close-quarters battlefields.
    • When intact, Hardlight provides visibility but blocks movement and gunfire until destroyed. Breaking Hardlight opens up powerful new lines of attack and devastating angles.
  • Unbreakable Updates For Fuse, Bloodhound, Catalyst, and Controller Legends
    • Fuse crashes through enemy lines:
      • The Knuckle Jumper Upgrade lets Fuse to leap past enemy defenses and claim brutal offensive angles.
      • Provoke the enemy with his reworked Ultimate to hammer defenders with explosives that clear dug-in positions.
      • The Pyro Techniques adds flames into his Ultimate – which is rechargeable by dealing explosive damage with the Reignition Upgrade.
    • Hunt down every last survivor with Bloodhound:
      • Track enemies with an improved Tactical scan and massively reduced Ultimate cooldown – score a knock during your Ultimate and the hunt extends.
      • Legend Upgrades continue with Raven’s Flight granting White Ravens longer range, Taste of Blood healing on knock during players’ Ultimate, and more.
    • Catalyst seizes control of the battlefield:
      • Piercing Spikes can be thrown further and now trigger faster once deployed.
      • Build even more lethal defenses with two new Upgrades: Hidden Traps keeps spikes hidden until triggered, while Sole Piercer triggers them faster with more damage.
      • The improved Dark Veil Ultimate is now a defensive powerhouse – deploy it horizontally to seal whole chokepoints, forcing attackers into fortified walls that slice incoming bullet damage in half.
    • Build impenetrable strongholds with Controller Legends:
      • Fortify defensive positions with Controller’s new abilities, repairing shattered Hardlight Mesh or reinforcing it to increase its original strength.
  • Seven Legendary Years Event
    • Break out the big ‘seven’ candle, it’s anniversary time! During the celebratory event, players can claim Community-created rewards, unlock permanent Legends, gear up with elite new SWAT Pilots tactical skins and more.

Apex Legends: Breach will be launching on February 10 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the EA App, Epic Game Store and Steam.

The innovations don’t stop there as Apex Legends also delivers Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations where defeated teammates can be revived, a contextual Ping communication system that allows players to call out enemies, weapons, locations and more with the push of a button, and an intelligent inventory system which automatically attaches gear and equipment to the appropriate weapons once players pick them up. All together it creates a battle royale experience unlike any other, complete with Respawn’s commitment to top-notch quality and fun.

Apex Legends is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
