The Legend Of Khiimori is an epic open-world adventure game where players will explore breathtaking landscapes on horseback, featuring high-fidelity graphics and unparalleled realism in equine behavior and animation, developed on Unreal Engine 5.

Taking on the role as an ancient courier rider, players will complete difficult missions, cultivate their nomad camp, and train and care for majestic horses as they unravel the mystery of Khiimori, the mythical “wind horse” and the spirit of the earth and sky. 

In The Legend Of Khiimori, players will embark on an epic adventure set in 13th century Mongolia, stepping into the role of a young courier rider. Horses will be essential to survival and safety as players breed horses, tame new ones and train them to aid them in their charting of the sprawling Mongolian landscape. As they immerse themselves into the game’s expansive open world full of wonders and intriguing tales, players will need to strategically plan their routes through different biomes of beautiful, yet harsh terrain, and master the challenges of the wilderness to complete their missions.

Building on the open world aspect the Windstorm games are known for, The Legend Of Khiimori advances gameplay mechanics that are unique to the game’s core experience. As players explore the world and complete missions, they will cultivate their nomad camp along the way, building yurts, managing important items and resources, and training and caring for their horses. Throughout their journey, players will take on quests that test their capabilities and require riding mastery and thoughtful planning in order to build their legacy as one of the greatest ancient courier riders in 13th century Mongolia.

The new gameplay video explains the challenges and dangers you will encounter during your deliveries. It features commentary from our experienced Design Director, Steve Bristow, who guides you through a full gameplay loop of our system-driven Early Access (Steam / Epic Games Store) version of the game on March 3, 2026.

The video shows how our system-driven gameplay allows you to shape your own experience. 

By system‑driven, we mean that we hand over authorship to the player. Instead of being told what the story is, players create their own through interacting systems such as movement, survival, terrain, consequences, and choice. Every decision matters, and no two self‑written stories are the same. 

On top of our system-driven gameplay during Early Access (Steam / Epic Games Store), a main story and fully crafted narrative will be added for the game’s full release.

• Carry cargo and diplomatic messages into the far reaches beyond your nomad village. 

• Keep yourself safe from danger by strategically planning your delivery routes across the wide steppes, over snowy peaks, or through the scorching desert. 

• Prepare yourself for harsh climates, steep cliffs, and amazing landscapes by crafting essential items, and setting up camp in the untamed wilds. 

• Breed authentic horses based on real‑world horse genetics and select the perfect mount for each courier mission across the Mongolian wilderness. 

• Unlock vital equipment by increasing your Yam rank, each upgrade becoming an essential part of your next journey. 

• Keep your horse’s saddlebags well balanced to prevent your horse from sustaining life‑threatening injuries. 
• On every journey, you will face new decisions on how to overcome danger: for example, decide if you want to shoot wolves with a well‑aimed arrow or scare them away with powder pouches. 
• Unexplored ruins, challenges involving fire, weather and spirits, hostile areas and many more secrets await you in this system‑driven open world.

However, in this game your bow and arrows are tools rather than weapons. Different arrows and powder pouches are used for gathering resources, defending yourself from dangerous wildlife and mindful hunting.

Take on various activities and thrive as a Yam courier rider. You will be tasked with delivering packages and cargo, gathering vital items, and mastering the challenges of the open world. Quests will test your capabilities, requiring the right steed, excellent riding mastery, and thoughtful planning, as well as skillful resource management, useful crafting, and keen archery to survive and succeed. 

The Legend Of Khiimori is coming to PC ( (Steam / Epic Games Store) in 2026, with Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S also planned.
