'God Save Birmingham' Shows Off New Guide System, Weapons, Construction, And More - Trailer

by Rainier on March 2, 2026 @ 11:00 a.m. PST

God Save Birmingham is a zombie apocalypse survival game set in 14th century Birmingham, England.

Doom has come to Birmingham, and you are the last soul alive!

As the lone survivor in a city overrun by the dead, you’ll rely on your wits, your fists, and whatever you can arm yourself with to endure the nightmare.

Explore a painstakingly recreated medieval town where danger lurks around every corner — not just from the undead, but from hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and even trip hazards. Grapple with gritty, real-world physics in a world where every step could be your last.

Outsmart the horde for as long as you can, or become their next meal.

The new Developer Update video dives into combat in God Save Birmingham. As well as the reveal of a new blunt weapon type – which includes hammers, maces, and even hunks of meat – the video also shows off an improved aiming system coming to the game, allowing players to more accurately target specific areas on their zombie foes.

Enemies react differently depending on which body part is hit, with the newly added scythe weapon a perfect example. A well-placed swing could cleave a zombie’s head right off its body, but aim lower down and a player could use it to slice through an undead’s legs and knock them down to the ground.

Ocean Drive Studio also gives players a first look at construction and durability systems, allowing players to break down larger objects, or build and place structures like fire pits and install barricades, doors, and latches.

Other additions include a deeper health management system to avoid disease and injury, a new guide system, crafting, and custom animations for each gameplay mechanic.

“The feedback we’ve received from pre-alpha testers has been extremely valuable during our work on God Save Birmingham,” said creative director Hyeonseong Cha. “Thanks to the support of our players, we’re incredibly excited to welcome players for the Closed Alpha Test.”

The God Save Birmingham Steam Early Access version focuses on a sandbox mode utilizing a small portion of the town. The full town will be available at official release, with a campaign mode coming later to complete the experience. The Early Access version of the game contains about one-quarter of the entire town, with the rest coming between now and full release.

Key Features:

  • THE END HAS COME: A strange plague sweeps the countryside, transforming men into monsters, and cities into slaughterhouses. You are one of the last survivors of Birmingham, alone against the shambling corpses of your former friends and neighbors, with only your wits to protect you.
  • NOURISH THY BODY: Even after the end of the world, life goes on. Forage for supplies, craft tools and weapons, then set out on the hunt for food, water, and shelter. The clock is always ticking, and the horde is always near.
  • MASTER MEDIEVAL PHYSICS: Wriggle your way out of harrowing situations with physics-based mechanics that reward quick wits and skill. Stack furniture to barricade doors, leap low fences to trip your clumsy foes, and sever limbs to reduce the undead to angry, wriggling torsos. Just be careful not to stumble over a bucket while fleeing for your life.
  • TAKE A BITE OUT OF HISTORY: Explore a carefully reconstructed 14th century Birmingham, in all its bucolic, bubonic glory. Stop by the Markets or the Burgage Plots to forage for resources. Raid boarded-up smithies for tools, grab a drink at the nearest tavern, and explore historic architecture at the Church of St. Martin in the Bull Ring.

God Save Birmingham is in development for PC (Steam).
