Vaunted throws players into a galaxy where chaos reigns supreme, and a millennium has passed since the fall of the last galactic empire. A galaxy where mercenaries and treasure hunters scrap over priceless imperial relics buried in far-flung ruins. Join dysfunctional frenemies Dyse, Gendril, and Kyvaath as they battle against ruthless rivals, monstrous aliens, and giant robots in search of the ultimate score. That is, if they can get their angry benefactor off their backs!
Vaunted takes the intense action of a third-person shooter and blends it with the calculated tension of a high-stakes turn-based tactical RPG, all through the lens of three extremely unreliable storytellers in the middle of an expedition that went horribly wrong.
“I've loved the games James Phinney has created in the past, and he and his amazing team have another masterpiece here," says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. "Vaunted brings true innovation to RPG and tactical games. I loved playing it even in an earlier form over a year ago when we first became publisher, and the game has been getting more amazing each day leading up to this announcement."
"We’re thrilled to partner with Hooded Horse," says Lost Lake CEO and co-founder James Phinney. "As a game developer, there’s nothing better than seeing people enjoy your game. Striving to build something that really connects with players guides everything we do at Lost Lake, and we see that exact same passion in them."
Key features:
- Tactical combat that blends turn-based planning with real-time action across vibrant, action-packed battlefields – there is no initiative-based order, players will control who goes when, alternating with enemies as a skirmish unfolds. Dodge incoming fire and use precision aiming when launching a counterattack.
- Squad management across the three main heroes and (dubious) companions, with skill trees, randomized upgrades, loadout choices, and diverse build options, so that the right team can be assembled for the right job.
- Rich RPG mechanics, allowing players to delve into the motivations of the main characters, as well as experience a unique version of the story depending on what happens in a playthrough – each hero has their own version of events, and player actions will shape which version becomes “truth.”
- Even in death, the story doesn’t end – each of the three main heroes has their own version of events, and the death of one hero gives you a chance to rewrite the current chapter from a different perspective, unlocking opportunities for unique conversations, new loot, skills, and secrets.
The game will be localized from English into German, French, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
Vaunted is coming to PC (Steam / Epic Games Store / Microsoft Store) in 2026 and will also be available via PC Game Pass day one.
