Geson Hatchett: I'm an action gamer at heart; always have been, always will be. Thus, I've accepted Dante's presence in various videogames a lot more openly than most people. I loved his first game, and his appearance (practically twice over) in Viewtiful Joe for the PS2 made me giddy. Sure, he's singlehandedly made the word "badass" cliché and passé in the world of videogame journalism, but you know what? The guy makes almost anything he's in fun to play, and cool to look at to boot. Devil May Cry 3 looks to be the culmination of all of this, and so help me, I'll be first in line to meet him again for the first time, and then go killing some nasty demons together with him. Once again, Ebony and Ivory have never gotten along so well.
Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: For a game that started off as another title in the Resident Evil series, Devil May Cry sure changed a lot from that formula. The ability to fluidly go from slashing at an enemy in front of you with an upward lunge that sends him skyward, to shooting a distant foe with twin pistols, to then keeping the first enemy airborne as you pump him full of lead never ceases to be cool. Devil May Cry 3 adds to the DMC canon by filling in Dante's back-story and expands upon the gameplay with the ability to choose between combat styles to fit the player's technique. If any gameplay falls squarely under the "If it ain't broke..." philosophy the adrenaline-powered slash-and-blast frenzy of the Devil May Cry series is it, and a third title in the series is a very welcome thing indeed.
Justin Raymond: If the first game is any indication, Capcom can still pull some pretty groovy punches in their action games, and DMC was a shining example of great 3D gameplay. While the sequel upped the maneuverability ante, many were disappointed in its lack of difficulty and somewhat dull level design. With any luck, DMC 3 will be the best of both worlds; an even better title with adrenaline pumping gameplay, wicked environments, and a reasonable challenge throughout!
