Geson Hatchett: The most intuitive and fun boxing series to hit the TV screen since the original Punch-Out! is set for another go. This one's coming to next-gen systems, too, so it'll look all shiny. The promised more robust career and rivalry aspects of the game are sure to be welcome additions, as is the augmented realism. At this point, there's nowhere for Fight Night to go but up.

Bill Lange: Say what you will about EA, but their digital pugilists never disappoint. Combine Round 2's incredibly intuitive analog punching system with an astonishing display of graphical prowess (photorealistic boxers and readable facial expressions), and Electronic Arts may well have set the pace for video boxing into the next decade. Start taping up your fists, folks, because there's a rumble brewing.

Thomas Leaf: Sports games have long since lost my interest. I used to line up for Madden, NHL and FIFA every year, but after a while of that, I grew tired of new rosters and shinier graphics. Then Fight Night Round 2 busted everything up for me. EA Chicago's opus shook every paradigm of a sporting game, and Fight Night Round 3 is going to take what FNR2 did and do it louder, bigger, better and with even more intensity. Realistic rivalries, developing an unknown fighter into a real contender, and not to mention that this will be the first game to truly show what an X360 can do to your TV, not to mention your pride. With the lighting just right, you'll be able to make out the level of confidence in your opponent's eye and thus be able to extrapolate how much fight he's got in him, and by the way he moves or holds his hands, you can tell if he's punched out or ready to go the full 12 rounds. If that isn't "next-gen," I don't know what is. Pound for pound will be the best fighter this side of Roy Jones Jr., minus the glass jaw and with the technical prowess of Winky Wright. Best of all, by the time you read this, Fight Night Round 3 will be getting ready to ship.

Hank Wang: Fight Night Round 3 is proof that once EA has found a reliable series, they will continue to innovate and improve future installments. Given the extremely realistic graphics on the Xbox 360, FNR3 is incredibly detailed and will have one of the best knock-out sequences available. The 360 version really makes you feel that the match is in your own home, and can almost feel the blood and perspiration raining down on you.
