Tekken 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to create the largest line-up the series has ever seen. With a growing roster of fighters, each equipped with their own deadly techniques, moves and attack combinations, Tekken 6 will be the best King of Iron Fist Tournament yet. Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only further enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players go mano-y-mano. Players can also take the battle online for classic match-ups and to compete for world domination.

Ready to set the standard for fighting games with stunning realism and uncompromising quality, Tekken 6 promises to deliver a pulse-pounding edge-of-your-seat experience with bone jarring punches and gut wrenching grapples. Displayed in astonishing HD detail, a new era begins in the sixth King of the Iron Fist Tournament complete with intense gameplay modes as well as new features and environments.

Namco Bandai Games America and Tekken fan site, SD Tekken, announced that they will host four days of Tekken 6 tournaments at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. The tournaments will be held on July 23 - 26 in Room 17B at the San Diego Convention Center. To compete against the best, sign-ups will begin at 10 a.m. each day in the tournament room.

Competitions will commence during the following times:

  • Thursday, July 23 – 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. (Finals)
  • Friday, July 24 – 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. (Finals)

Tekken 6 is the undeniably best fighting game in the world,” said In Joon Hwang, brand manager at Namco Bandai Games America Inc. “We are ecstatic to be partnering with SD Tekken to showcase Tekken 6 at this year’s Comic-Con and to enable our community to play, compete and experience the fierce fury of the next Iron Fist Tournament.”

“With this being our eighth year running Tekken tournaments at Comic-Con, SD Tekken is proud to give gamers a chance to enjoy a game that is near and dear to our gaming hearts.  Gamers will experience the latest edition of one of the most revered fighting game series in history.  We are excited and honored to be working alongside Namco Bandai Games to bring attendees a series of tournaments that will blow their minds!  This is a great opportunity for gamers to get a first hand experience with the console version of Tekken 6, enjoy watching high level tournament play and experiencing one of the most action packed 3D fighters ever made,” said Mark Julio, SD Tekken Director and Founder.

Tekken 6 for the PSP will be the quintessential companion for players who want to hone their fighting skills on-the-go. Unbridled vengeance will be served worldwide this Fall when each version of the game delivers pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat action with bone-jarring punches and gut-wrenching grapples.

Optimized for the PSP system, Tekken 6 will not only contain all the explosive action of its home console brethren but also feature additional stages, content, items, and an ad-hoc multiplayer mode. Fighting amongst friends is encouraged as players can battle wirelessly against each other using original or fan favorite characters. Rounding out its list of impressive features is the return of the “Ghost” Infrastructure mode, which allows players to upload their “ghost” character data and download others’ from the Internet onto their PSP. When players have reached the height of their Tekken fighting skills, they will be able to see how they stack up against others through the game’s network support.

In a first for the series, the Scenario Campaign mode in Tekken 6 features a unique hybrid control system combining conventional fighting game controls with free movement allowing players to progress through the story and mow down hordes of enemies with relative ease while still enjoying the fight action. In addition to hand-to-hand fighting, players have an arsenal of staffs, machine guns, flame throwers, and even giant robots at their disposal.

Tekken 6 is scheduled to be released worldwide in Oct 27, 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
