Reggie Carolipio: The first Bayonetta was a huge surprise. I couldn't get enough of the big, boisterous bombshell of sophisticated beat-'em-up sorcery. It was carved from a granite block of crazy, in a good way, from mega-sized bosses and special attacks to an amazing call-back to Space Harrier that I never saw coming. It was fast, fierce, and completely at ease in delivering its action while pushing the envelope on everything else, and the sequel looks set to deliver on that promise again. I don't even have a Wii U, and I want this game.
Chris DeAngelus: The first Bayonetta was one of the best action games ever made. Fast, stylish, and a dream to play, it set the standard for everything that would come after. Unfortunately, it was just niche enough that a sequel seemed unlikely. A deal between Nintendo and Sega has given us a second chance at more of Bayonetta's trademark fast-paced combat. She might have a new hairstyle, but Bayonetta's gameplay looks as exciting as ever.
Jason Grant: It's the sequel to the best stylish action game on the planet. Nothing else needs to be said. The demo from last E3 gave a taste of cooperative play and the custom-combo-alike mechanic, Umbra Climax. Those aside, this is the same great taste as the first game, only more so, and that's just fine by me.
Erik "NekoIncardine" Ottosen: Nintendo's surprise pick-up of the Bayonetta series from Sega may be a capstone to the collection of new, Wii U-exclusive titles to come from Platinum Games. Everything about it screams that it's going to be a worthy sequel to the first. Platinum has proven that it knows how to make stuff that makes Nintendo's system shine, and it may finally give core gamers enough reason to step into Nintendo's next generation.
