As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

19. 'Evolve' (PS4/XOne/PC)

Evolve is a multiplayer shooter that blends cooperative and competitive multiplayer experiences as a team of four hunters face off against a single, player-controlled monster.

Redmond Carolipio: I have worries that this title might be a one-trick pony, but it's one HELL of a trick. Gathering a range of diverse hunting buddies together to bring down an evolving monster sounds like a simple concept, but the buffet of abilities available to both the hunters and the player-controlled monster can make for some outstanding fun. This could shape up to be the ultimate time-killer game, where you jump in, go nuts for a few hours and then head out to the rest of your day. I'm probably going to have a lot of fun with Evolve, and I'm just curious how long it can last.

Rhi "StormyDawn" Mitera: Four-versus-one is a great idea for a game if you can balance it correctly, and I think Evolve does. The four hunters can be near-unstoppable if the teamwork is good enough, but even with the best communication, they can still be beaten by a skilled monster-player, and a hunter team without teamwork is laughably easy to defeat. Regardless of whether you win or lose or which team you're on, I think the best thing Evolve does is that you have fun.

Rainier Van Autrijve: With Evolve coming out in a few days, a lot has been said about Turtle Rock's co-op shooter. Even though it also features a solo campaign, the meat and potatoes are its multiplayer. Teaming up with a few friends and hunting down a big scary monster never has been more fun. Different classes, variety of weapons, beautiful graphics, over a dozen maps, and the need for teamwork will guarantee many nights of fun and heated discussions on chat servers about whose fault it was that the team was nommed by the Behemoth, Goliath, Kraken or Wraith. If you're fed up with your teammates, you can switch sides and be the monster. Sounds like a great night of fun to me!
