3. 'Batman: Arkham Knight' (PS4/XOne/PC)

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect.

Mark Buckingham: The biggest complaints I'd heard about Arkham Origins was that it wasn't quite as good as Asylum/City. That's complaining about only winning two free cars instead of three. There are some lofty expectations after what Rocksteady was able to do with the first two entries in the series, so Knight had better deliver, or faith in the franchise might wane again. Batman had a rocky road in gaming until the Arkham games came along. They need to keep the hits coming.

Redmond Carolipio: We're getting the Batmobile in an open world. That alone is enough for me to throw money at this thing, but I've been a longtime admirer of how Rocksteady has been able to progressively build upon Batman's world without completely losing the soul of the property. The first Rocksteady entry painted an amazing picture of Arkham Asylum, while the second one pulled off the difficult task of actually improving on the first in every respect. Arkham Origins did a respectable job of maintaining the momentum, but I think Arkham Knight has a chance to a be a GOTY candidate out of the box — and it will start with the Batmobile.

Dustin Chadwell: While I enjoyed a good portion of Batman: Arkham City, it was easy enough to tell that this wasn't a Batman game helmed by developer Rocksteady. Now that Rocksteady is back for Arkham Knight, it's hard to not get excited for the final chapter in the purported trilogy. Also, the Batmobile? So awesome.

Chris DeAngelus: The Arkham franchise redefined what it means to be a licensed game. The first two Arkham titles set a high standard, and the ending to Rocksteady's trilogy has the potential to be the best yet. The combat gameplay has been refined with environmental takedowns, the predator moves are more vicious than ever, and there are plenty of new enemies to face, including the titular Arkham Knight. Perhaps most importantly of all, it features the long-awaited debut of the Batmobile, so players can take to the streets of Gotham for the first time. It's easy to see why fans are excited for the epic finale of Batman's adventures.

Rhi "StormyDawn" Mitera: I've always had a special place in my heart for Batman and, more so, for the Bat Family and his rogue's gallery. The Arkham games are all great and really do a great job of bringing the comics to life in a way I don't think any other superhero-based video games have properly done. With every game in the series, the world gets larger and more nuanced, and so do the characters, even the "evil" ones. Also, the Batmobile finally makes its heroic debut.
