Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: The original State of Decay was one of the strongest exclusives for the Xbox 360. The zombie game everyone imagined, it combined open-world survival gameplay with the zombie-killing action we all know and love. State of Decay 2 is looking to up the ante with more zombies, more space, and more players. The mere concept of taking on an even greater horde of the undead with a group of friends is reason enough to be excited. It also looks like the survival and base-building mechanics have also seen a significant upgrade, giving the game tons of value if you want to slay the brain-eating menace or just find a way to thrive in the postapocalyptic world.
Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: In between the release of the original State of Decay and present day, the zombie theme has been played out to the point when a game focuses on it, it's a negative factor for me. However, State of Decay was an impressive mix of camp management, combat, gathering, and survival that few other games have tried. With the sequel adding cooperative play, I admit that while I'm jaded as hell with the undead, I'm somehow still eagerly awaiting State of Decay 2. While the first game did well with its real-time gameplay where things happened while players were offline, it'll be interesting to see how the addition of multiplayer will affect the dynamics.
Rainier Van Autrijve: When Undead Labs announced the original State of Decay in 2011, "The Walking Dead" craze had barely begun, but by the time it was released in 2013, the furor was in full swing. I've played through the original game twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. The mix of exploration, scavenging, bashing in zombie heads, driving a variety of vehicles, building a base, and researching was just tremendous fun. With State Of Decay 2 scheduled for later this spring, Undead Labs will hopefully start to reveal more details about what we can expect in the sequel, apart from everything being bigger and better. One major feature is the addition of four-player co-op and the fact that friends can drop in and out of your games while you keep your personal community and roster of characters. After the switch from CryEngine for the original title to Unreal Engine 4 for the sequel, the world in State Of Decay 2 looks more detailed and a lot more dangerous, so it'll be exciting to see the challenges and obstacles we'll have to face.
