Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: Metroid Prime 4 exists. That's pretty much all we know about it. From the name, we can assume it'll be a first-person shooter/platformer like the previous games in the franchise. The Metroid Prime trilogy is one of the best in gaming, and the idea of another entry in the series is enough to get excited. Unlike most of the games on this list, this one is about sheer potential. It could be a massive departure from the franchise for all we know — but the last massive departure from the Metroid franchise gave us the original Metroid Prime, so excitement abounds.
Andreas Salmen: My excitement is at the peak level for Metroid Prime 4 and a potential port of the trilogy for the Switch. Nintendo has been a surprising company in the past year, so I wouldn't mind being blindsided by this one in a good way.
David Silbert: Metroid has always been one of Nintendo's most distinct franchises: Its setting is dark and haunting, its gameplay is raw and gritty, and its heroine is strong and brave. Metroid Prime took the series to the next level with a new development team (Retro Studios), an exciting 3-D perspective, and cutting-edge graphical fidelity. Now, over a decade after the release of Metroid Prime 3, Nintendo finds itself with another new beginning for the Metroid franchise. Little to nothing is known about Metroid Prime 4, except that it's being made by a brand-new studio for the Nintendo Switch. While this may leave some fans anxious, they can take solace in the following fact: Metroid Prime is back, baby.
