Chris Barnes: In stark contrast to the Gears series, my wife and I did not enjoy Halo 5 together, simply because 343 made the shocking decision to remove split-screen from the game altogether. Based on pre-release coverage and interviews, though, it seems like the developer has learned from its ill-advised decisions of the past and will be returning the much-needed couch shenanigans to the series. It's one of my favorite franchises from my teenager years, and I'm really hopeful Halo Infinite can put the series back on track. Let's not forget the fact that the visuals from the newly developed Slipspace engine look absolutely breathtaking.
Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: This one hits me in a soft spot. On the one hand, Halo has remained one of my favorite gaming franchises, but on the other hand, I never completed Halo 4 and never touched Halo 5. Something about Halo Infinite has me more interested in the franchise than I have been in years. We only know teaser bits of information, such as that it's taking the franchise in a "bolder" direction. We don't know what that means, but I can't shake a gut feeling that the game might end up being closer to the Halo games that I've loved in the past.
Adam Pavlacka: It's Halo. We're going to see the return of Cortana and Master Chief, though in what fashion is still unknown. What we do know is that the team at 343 is focusing on Halo gameplay and not chasing trends, so don't expect to see a Battle Royale mode here. Visually, the new Slipspace engine looked sharp when it was shown off at E3 2018, so if nothing else, Halo Infinite will be a looker.
David Silbert: It's unclear whether Halo Infinite will be ready in time for 2019, but it's clear as day that fans are ready for it. As Microsoft's flagship franchise, Halo has been a source of epic campaigns, deceptively cunning AI, and phenomenal multiplayer for years. While Halo 5 left many disappointed with its misleading campaign and its multiplayer microtransactions, Halo Infinite could prove a return to form for 343 Industries. While details are still extremely scarce for the newest Halo, hopefully Microsoft will raise the curtain at this year's E3 and wow fans all over again. It's Halo, after all.
Thomas Wilde: Where do they even go from here? Halo has its own momentum by now, as a tentpole franchise and a fanatical favorite, but I have no idea what they'll actually do with the story at this point, and this is interesting.
