Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: Sometimes you don't want to blow up things in games. Sometimes you just want to chill out, relax, and have fun with adorable dogs and evil capitalist raccoons. That is what Animal Crossing is for, and New Horizons looks to keep to the formula. Featuring multiplayer with friends, new activities, new environments and new furniture, Animal Crossing: New Horizons should give you everything you could need — except the bells to pay off that darn Tom Nook.
Cody Medellin: Neither the Wii U nor 3DS had proper core Animal Crossing games, with the latter specifically only having a minigame compilation. The mobile version was fine if you could get over the free-to-play trappings, but it is good to see a full-featured entry appear on a proper Nintendo console. Even though players would be fine if the core game were unchanged, the addition of more crafting and increased multiplayer will make New Horizons a game that may inadvertently overshadow everything else for the year because you'll be gladly sucked into the routine of deserted island life.
Rhi "StormyDawn" Mitera: While the mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has done a lot to help fill the void between main installments of the Animal Crossing series, seven years is still a long time to wait. Good thing New Horizons looks every bit like it'll be worth the wait. It does a good job of balancing new additions and updates while still maintaining all the things that make the series great. I am so ready to owe Tom Nook money again.
