Redmond Carolipio: The last God of War was an impactful, wondrous piece of action and narrative. Old Man Kratos and his badass kid are now delving deeper into Norse mythos, and I have really enjoyed how Santa Monica Studio has interepreted Norse godhood and lore as Kratos threatens to tear through them like he did the Greeks. Do they dare to top what they did in the last game?
Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: In some ways, you don't even need to discuss Ragnarok. We know precious little about it except that it will continue the adventures of Kratos and The Boy in Norse mythology. The previous game ended with a cliffhanger promising that Kratos will, at last, tangle with the mighty god of thunder, Thor. That alone is enough to get excited, but the title suggests that Kratos and his son will be heading right into the end of Norse mythology, and you can probably expect to see everything from Fenrir to Odin in this upcoming adventure.
Cody Medellin: The PS4 entry of God of War was a thoughtful reboot that provided players with excellent gameplay, a great story, and made Kratos actually likeable. A sequel still set in Norse mythology would be welcome, and even if the game ends up being more of the same, fans wouldn't complain. While there's a good chance it won't come out in 2021 considering the long hype cycle for a big Sony-published game, there may be a chance the company will prove us all wrong and actually bring it out this year.
Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: The previous entry in the God of War franchise was a surprisingly good example of how to take a beloved franchise and successfully reboot it. It became one of the defining games of the PS4, gave nuance to Kratos that did not previously exist, and it was just as brutal as any game in the series. A sequel that follows the same recipe will be great and might be a defining game of the PS5's generation.
