Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: It's been a long time in development, but every time we see The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, it looks better and better. A rare direct sequel, Breath of the Wild 2 returns players to control everyone's favorite mute sword-wielder as Hyrule Castle is once again overcome by a great evil, this time lifting it high into the air. With a new magic arm, Link sets out to save the day once again, traveling across floating islands in addition to the usual land of Hyrule. He even has a host of new abilities, such as the power to phase through stone, which should lend itself to some very cool puzzles. Considering the first game is arguably a genre-defining classic, it's easy to get excited.
Cody Medellin: Whether Breath of the Wild 2 actually comes out in 2022 is anyone's guess, but it's easy to get excited for the sequel to a massive hit. The original's open world gave the player a near limitless amount of things to do, and the sequel would still be a fantastic, long-lasting experience even if no new mechanics were introduced. Knowing Nintendo's history with the franchise, it'll introduce something wild on this next go-round, and that's what's keeping this title on our radar no matter how long the development process may take.
Andreas Salmen: Launching a console with one of its best games right out of the gate is quite an achievement, but Breath of the Wild also set the bar high for its sequel. Early footage is still a bit vague but makes interesting promises about Link's new abilities and an overall darker setting. If Breath of the Wild 2 manages to be what Majora's Mask was for Ocarina of Time, I'm all for it. Now we just need to see more of the actual gameplay.
