Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: SaGa is one of those franchises that never ceases to experiment in the strangest ways, and Emerald Beyond looks to go above and beyond. Combining the phenomenal combat system of SaGa: Scarlet Grace with an unusual cast ranging from a rogue AI singer to a magical girl with an army of cats and a pair of mismatched police officers, it has all the makings of one of SaGa's greats.
Cody Medellin: The SaGa games are the oddballs of the Square Enix lineup. The freeform storytelling makes it an RPG sandbox of sorts, as the setting may be fixed but the journey can go to very unexpected places. The latest entry promises six main protagonists, 17 worlds, and the chance of mixing and matching all of those combinations in each playthrough. It's just enough to make it anticipated for someone who wants to give the series a shot and wants to use this title as a starting point.
Andreas Salmen: I'm not a Saga fan, but if any franchise lies dormant for years and then puts out a new sequel that excites many people in the fan base, I get curious, too. The ability to draw from a rich history of games and the promise of a branching story that adapts to our choices sounds intriguing and could very well turn me into a late fan. We should be able to find out very soon when Saga: Emerald Beyond releases in April 2024.
