Redmond Carolipio: For people of a certain age like me — old enough to have played the original and gone through the fulfilling emotional storm it brings — playing Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will probably feel like a spiritual experience. There's a part of me that still can't believe this is really a thing, but now with real-time combat and the good vibes I'm still feeling from Remake and FFXVI. I'm both excited and frightened to see what narrative changes could be made and just how damn good this is going to look.
Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: The long-awaited second part in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy is almost available, and it's genuinely impressive how a simple remake can have so much mystery. The plot is heading toward the most infamous video game spoiler of all time, and yet we still don't know how things are going to go, which is exciting on its own merit. Add to that more playable characters, a massive explorable world, and some of the most iconic video game moments of all time, and it is no wonder this particular remake is awaited with bated breath.
Cody Medellin: Hearing that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth finally takes place outside of Midgar seems deflating for those who have played the original game but not Final Fantasy VII Remake. However, the end of that game subverted expectations, and now the story is going into uncharted territory, with the various spin-offs playing a more important role in this offering. Even if you're not a fan of the action combat system, there's still some excitement in seeing where the tale goes.
