About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

1. '007 First Light' (Switch2, PS5, XSX, PC)

007 First Light (previously known as Project 007) features a wholly original Bond story and will see players earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story.

Redmond Carolipio: I've been aching for a proper third-person Bond adventure since the brilliant Everything or Nothing many, many years ago. It's been said before by others, but this gives off Batman: Arkham Asylum vibes in terms of being something that perfectly captures the tone and feel of a legendary character and all that comes with him. I look forward to being shaken and stirred in the best possible way.

Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: The recent Hitman games excelled at offering an unparalleled toybox to explore, with levels filled to the brim with secrets, alternate paths, and unique ideas. Seeing the same concept expanded to someone like James Bond, master superspy and gadget-user, has immense potential at finally capturing some of the elements of the suave spy that have previously gone undervalued in games. Add to that some great-looking action sequences and a high level of polish, and there's a ton to be excited for in Bond's latest outing.

Cody Medellin: Almost every James Bond game has emphasized shooting and gadgets — and almost nothing on actual spy work. Handing off the series to the people behind the Hitman series is a perfect move, as they know how to strike a balance to give players the kind of action that 007 is known for. 007 First Light is already off to a strong start with some reasonable PC system specs, so here's hoping that the good news for this title continues until the title is released.

Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: It has been a long time since we've gotten a James Bond game, and it's been longer still since we've got a good one. Tackling Bond's origin story is an interesting choice, especially given that this isn't a movie tie-in and is instead inspired by Ian Fleming's novels. It's been under development for years now, but 2026 seems to be the year this Bond game will finally come to light.

Adam Pavlacka: Hitman: World of Assassination has sold me on 007 First Light. If you told me that IO Interactive just slapped a skin on Hitman and called it a James Bond game, I 'd still be there on day one saying, "Sign me up." IO is a master of the espionage/sneaking genre, and 007 First Light is a chance for them to bring that to a much larger audience.

Rainier Van Autrijve: When IO Interactive announced 007 First Light, I thought it sounded like Hitman with a James Bond skin. We've learned a lot about First Light more since then, and each new detail has added to my excitement. Most of us know the established James Bond from the movies, but First Light is 007's origin story, so we'll be playing as a younger Bond who's trying to earn his 00 status. The game will feature familiar characters (e.g., M, Moneypenny) and introduce new ones, such as Bond's MI6 mentor John Greenway. There will be plenty of gadgets devised by Q, there will be an unreleased Omega watch, and it wouldn't be a Bond game without a new Aston Martin vehicle. Add Lenny Kravitz to the mix as The Pirate King Bawma, and I'm counting down to the May release date.
