'Grounded' Details Upcoming The Shroom & Doom Update - Trailer

by Rainier on June 13, 2021 @ 8:07 p.m. PDT

Grounded is a first-person, co-op survival game. Shrunk to the size of an ant, how will you survive?

In Grounded, you are shrunk to the size of an ant and must survive in the beautiful yet perilous micro-world of a suburban backyard. This harsh and dangerous landscape can be navigated solo or with up to three additional players in co-operative multiplayer, as you work together to progress through thrilling story-based missions or explore the farthest reaches of the intricately detailed game world.

You hear the voice of a mysterious robot named BURG.L. He seems to know what’s going on and lets you know that the machine to turn you back to normal size is currently out of order. For now, everything in the backyard is trying to kill you and it’s up to you – and up to three friends, if you’re playing co-operative multiplayer – to survive the perilous landscape.

The backyard is rife with different kinds of ants, flying insects, and spiders. You must gather, craft, and build bases from scavenged items found in the backyard, searching for life-saving resources such as the dew off grass to quench your thirst or transforming an acorn shell into body armor to defend against a host of unpredictable creatures. Can you thrive against the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard?

Coming June 30, the Grounded team will be dropping the biggest content update ever.

Building is getting expanded with more materials and the ability to make mushroom structures. Want to transform your base into an awesome castle made of mushroom bricks? Grounded’s got you. Plus, for fans that have been wondering whether we were going to add bosses, they won’t have to wonder anymore. The fearsome Broodmother has found her way to the backyard! She is not for the faint of heart, so for those who may need it, remember that there is an Arachnophobia Mode.

As Grounded is still in Game Preview/Early Access, the team at Obsidian listens to the Grounded community and is adding in a host of highly requested community features. From the ability to sit in chairs to having their own aphid pets – our community has asked for it and we are giving it to them. Plus, the team has added in achievements, so players are also now able to add to their gamer score while playing Grounded. These are just a very small number of all the things that are coming to Grounded on June 30. It’s been an amazing year since Grounded first came out, and we are having as much fun continuing to add cool things as the millions of people who have already joined us in the backyard.

To summarize, you want to: Go Big Or Never Go Home.

Available through Xbox Game Preview with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Steam Early Access, Grounded will be available for Xbox One digitally through Xbox Game Pass, and PC (Microsoft Store/Steam) in 2021.
