Ultima Online Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary

ORIGIN, an Electronic Arts development studio, today announced the five-year anniversary of Ultima Online (UO), marking the event with discounts of the latest version of UO and by unveiling a new U.S. shard, an area within the game, where players can get in on the ground floor to begin a brand new adventure. In addition, ORIGIN is launching a retrospective five-year anniversary Web site that will feature original UO art and special moments shared by UO players worldwide. Plus, the anniversary will signal the launch of an in-game presentation of the five-year veteran rewards, which delivers to players collectible items in recognition of their length of citizenship in the game.

'WRECKLESS: The Yakuza Missions' Comes To GameCube

Activision, Inc. today announced that WRECKLESS: The Yakuza Missions, its mission-based driving game for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, will shift into overdrive on the Nintendo GameCube this November. Like the upcoming PlayStation2 computer entertainment system version, the Nintendo GameCube title will feature all of the ultra-realistic pulse-pounding missions of the Xbox game, plus 20 all-new missions, two-player action, 16 more vehicles to drive with mounted rockets, new sub-missions, interaction with pedestrians, 60 fps gameplay and a "Free Roam" mode. 'Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver' Goes GOLD

BAM! Entertainment today announced that its first title for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver, has gone gold and will be the first published title from Microsoft's Incubator Program when it reaches retail shelves later this month. The title was developed by South African-based I-Imagine Interactive, which became the first independent developer in the world to be signed up with Microsoft's Incubator Program and is the only licensed Xbox developer on the African continent.

Day Of Shiping The Games!

Today several games have shipped to stores so you can expect them to actually BE on the shevles in the next few days ... Almost a month after the PS2 release and a good week since the gold announcement, Eidos Interactive has announced the shipping of Commandos: Men of Courage for Xbox. As with the PlayStation 2 version, the Xbox version of the game has players taking control of an elite group of commandos in the midst of WWII. The game was developed by Pyro Studios and carries an MSRP of $49.99 USD. Capcom has announced the release of Dino Stalker for PlayStation 2. With a script written by those behind Resident Evil and Onimusha, Dino Stalker puts players in the role of WWII veteran pilot Lt. Mike Wired. After being hurled back in time, Wired must venture through various pre-historic lands and battle fourteen species of dinosaurs to return home. The game supports the GunCon 2 light gun and is rated “M” for mature by the ESRB. Microsoft Game Studios announced today that it has shipped its futuristic racer, Quantum Redshift, to stores nationwide. Developed exclusively for the Xbox by Curly Monsters Ltd., Quantum Redshift allows players to race on 16 tracks from around the world at speeds reaching 650 mph, compete against friends in the four-player split-screen mode, choose from 16 different pilots, and more.

Golden Joystick Awards Is Announced

Today the official nominations for this year’s Golden Joystick Awards are announced. Amongst the front-runners at this stage are EA Games’ Medal of Honor franchise, which has been nominated in five categories (including Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year), Take Two’s Grand Theft Auto III (three nominations) and Blizzard’s WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (also three nominations). In total, more than 60 computer and video games, products and services have been nominated across 14 separate categories.

'Grandia Xtreme' (PS2) Goes Gold

Enix America's sequel to Grandia for PS2, Grandia Xtreme has gone gold and will be available in stores on September 30th. This adventure-RPG hybrid, featuring voices from Hollywood actors such as Mark Hamill, Dean Cain and Lisa Loeb, is set in a fully 3D-rendered world and contains an elaborate mix of real-time and turn-based battle systems in which the elemental powers of Fire, Air, Earth and Water can be wielded against opponents. Grandia Xtreme comes on the heels of the re-released version of the Dreamcast-title Grandia 2 for PS2 and the PC.
