Set between the largely unexplored era between Ep III and Ep IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. LucasArts' Matt Shell confirmed on G4 that a demo will be released on XBL/PSN somewhere in August featuring a special version of the Tie Fighter Construction Facility level, special powers and an ending not included in the retail game.

'Gears of War 2' (X360) Content Unlocked By GoW Achievements?

Gears of War 2 picks up six months after the events of the original, thrusting players back into humankind’s epic battle for survival against a nightmarish force of underground creatures known as the Locust Horde. At Comic-Con Epic's Cliff Bleszinski revealed that Gears 2 will have "linked achievements," meaning the original will unlock new content in the sequel. For example, killing Raam in GoW will unlock him as a playable character in the sequel. Previously games used save games to unlock items or weapons in a sequel, but this might be a first to automatically have content be available through achievements.

White Gold: War in Paradise explores the shadowy background of modern low intensity conflicts, where the newest weapons often do battle with the antics of witchdoctors. An FPS with a handful of RPG elements thrown in for a good measure, White Gold offers a rich scenario in addition to the non-stop action.

Revealed last month, NFS: Undercover will feature a very strong mission structure, influenced by the action movies The Transporter, and a better storyline with a strong narrative hook. A cinematic video on YouTube seems to show off the first footage from the new NFS installment, with the end showing a possible release date, Nov. 18, 2008. Also mentioned is a website which leads to an interactive page showing looping interrogation cam footage (featuring rumored NFS babe Christina Milan), with various clickable links showing extra content, although some won't be active until July 30 (thanks Attila).

'Battle Fantasia' (PS3/X360) - Screens & Trailer

Battle Fantasia is a 2.5D arcade fighting game, using 2D background with 3D models, developed by Arc System Works of Guilty Gear fame, and designed by artist Emiko Iwasaki. While Asia received both platforms, only the PS3 edition is scheduled in Europe, while Aksys will only release the X360 version in North America.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning will bring Games Workshop's fantasy world to life in a way that will allow players to create characters destined for great deeds and glory on the field of battle. EA Singapore has put up a website for the WHO Collector's Edition, revealing it is scheduled for release on Sept. 23, 2008.

'Star Trek Online' Confirmed by Cryptic Studios Ad

Cryptic Studios is currently working on Champions Online, based on the pen-and-paper Champions RPG, and has been recruiting several times the past few years, and last week merged the City of Heroes/Villains servers. Last month Cryptic Studios put a teaser counter on its website indicating that a new game announcement is scheduled for 27th July, the last day of San Diego Comic-Con. Somebody in its Human Resources department jumped the gun as an ad in the latest Game Developer magazine reveals Cryptic is recruiting for Champions Online ... and Star Trek Online.

'Tomb Raider Underworld' (ALL) - 7 New Screens

Crystal Dynamics has made Tomb Raider Underworld more realistic with fluid movements due to motion capturing. Set a few years after the last game, it also features persistent destruction and lush locales across the globe. Lara gets muddy in the game, but with the weather system, rain will wash it away.

New 'Marvel vs. Capcom' Title in The Works?

During a panel discussion at Comic-Con, Marvel Studios production boss Kevin Feige was asked whether fans might see a new installment in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, and he replied, "Yes, and maybe sooner than you think." No further details were revealed, but that confirmation on its own will surely please fans who haven't had a title in the 2-D fighter series since 2003's Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on the Xbox.

'Skate 2' (ALL) First Details Revealed

Revealed earlier this year, the September issue of EGM has the first details on EA's free-roaming Skate 2. Set five years after the original, San Vanelona's been rebuild after it was hit by a natural disaster. Skate 2 will sport a Tiger Woods-like character editor, allow you to play as a girl, a tweaked camera angle including a 3rd person view, run at 60fps and have no load times when teleporting to a session marker. The game will now also allow you to get off your skateboard and move objects around in the world to open new pathways, while pedestrians will automatically move out of your way.
