Comments made by ArenaNet's co-founder Jeff Strain over at Gameindustry.biz seem to indicate a change in formula is in order to make it suitable. "Their whole goal is to encourage people to go and buy games on the shelf, then there's an online component for it," he explained. "But for us, when you buy it on the shelf, that's just the beginning of our relationship with you - and we want a direct connection with our customer so that we're always giving you new content, always supporting you directly. Xbox Live just wasn't really built, from a business standpoint, to support that."

Infinite Ward sends word that the Call of Duty 2 patch is currently being tested, and will be released soon. The update will include punkbuster (and it's functional unlike claims made on the official IW forum), 2 new multiplayer maps, fixes for multiplayer exploits and bugs, and the ability for players to auto download mods and maps. 'Winter Challenge' Now Available For Online Purchase/Download

Cyanide announced that Winter Challenge is now available for online order/download from its website. Winter Challenge, aka Wintersport Pro 2006, is based on the upcoming Olympic Wintersports in Torino, and will feature 16 disciplines (skiing, bobsled, ski jumping etc.) and over 700 athletes from 29 countries, as well as multiplayer.
